Seriously?
Declo has beaten all of their opponents by huge margins, scoring 149 points over three games, while only allowing 25 points from the opposition. We beat Malad and Aberdeen, both of which were considered huge contenders for the state title this year, and you still vote for both Parma and Glenns Ferry over us?

Declo
Let's look at this logically. Declo's record the day we voted (Wednesday) is an impressive 3-0. However, Aberdeen is 1-4. Malad is 1-2, with their only win against Firth, a 0-4 team that is getting blown out by everyone they play. I am not saying Declo doesn't have a good team, but at this point in the season, they haven't beaten anyone with a winning record. Glenns Ferry is 4-0 with very decisive wins over a couple of good teams. Parma...they are the defending state champions. They are 4-0. The have out-scored their opponents 151-13 in the first 4 games of the season. Grangeville (2A) has beaten two 3A teams and only lost by one point to another 3A team. Soda Springs is 4-0 and has out-scored their opponents 131-20. With these facts, I probably actually voted Declo a little too high.

Declo
I have to side with Jacob Turner on this Declo is not getting enough respect with the voters, I don't even know anything about this team and I know they're getting shafted, Glenns Ferry and Grangeville are way overated in these polls. Kamiah should be ranked above Grangeville.

Well stated, Paul. There are obviously a lot of good 2A teams in the state this year. This isn't the BCS, we have a playoff that will find out who is the best in the end.

I am following the 2A scores, I wish they would do some more web casts of 2A teams. In particular Declo.

2A Polls
Here's how the poll should be. 1 Declo 2 Parma 3 Glenns Ferry 4 Valley 5 Soda Springs Kamiah receiving 3 votes and Grangeville not even being mentioned on this list. Come on voters get in the game, vote with logic not with your heart.

Logic
Help me out before this week's vote on Wednesday. Why, logically, should Declo be ranked any higher than they already are? At #1? Ahead of the defending state champs Parma? Help me see what I am missing.

Logic
Paul, you didn't vote for Declo to be even #2; Glenns Ferry should definitely be voted behind Declo. Glenns Ferry has beaten two teams that received votes in the week 0 poll, ranked 4th and 6th. Declo has beaten two teams receiving votes in week 0 as well, but they ranked 3rd and 6th, with Aberdeen being way ahead of Nampa, who, by the way, you voted for first in the polls. I agree that Parma should be ranked ahead of Declo, only because they are defending state champions, and not enough games have been played this year to show which team is better, but there is no doubt that Declo should be ahead of Glenns Ferry.

Firth was tied for 5th in that same zero week poll. You can't vote week 5 based on where a team was voted in week 0. That makes zero sense. We are halfway done with the regular season. Enough games have been played to give a pretty accurate picture of where teams are this year. The combined win-loss record of Declo's opponents is 7-11. The combined win-loss record of Glenns Ferry's opponents is 7-10. Based on that they are pretty even. GF is 5-0 and has beaten two 3A schools. They also beat two decent 2A teams in Nampa Christian and New Plymouth. Declo is 4-0. They have also beaten two 3A schools and a couple of decent 2A teams. Let's say for the sake of argument they are tied at this point. Let's go to the Power Rankings. Glenns Ferry has a 60.33 and Declo has a 56.00. Sorry...it looks like 1-2-3 this week will be Parma, Glenns Ferry, Declo. This week Glenns Ferry has a bye and then plays a very tough Buhl team on the 9th. And then Declo on the 16th. ....Maybe we should go to Glenns Ferry and web cast that game.... Like I said on the Show on Saturday, I like Declo. I always have. I don't want this to turn into "Paul Kingsbury hates Declo." I have all the respect in the world for the Hornets. It just isn't fair to the other teams out there to not take everything into consideration. After this week, if Declo beats Wendell, you will probably see Declo move up past Glenns Ferry next week. If Parma loses to Nampa Christian, they might even get my #1 vote next week. Did I just write an entire blog?

I think the Declo fans need to calm down a little. This is just a media poll and high school has a play off system and Declo will most likely get there. I just want to say how about the rest of the state starts to recognize 2A football from District 4...Declo 4-0, Glens Ferry 5-0, Valley 3-1.

Edenballer, You have a great point. The 2A champion could very well come out of district 4 this year.

Paul, I graduated from Parma but have seen both Parma and Declo play this year. I believe they are head and shoulders above the rest. Should meet in the finals. After seeing what Parma did to Melba vs what Glens Ferry did I don't see them (GF) touching either of these teams. I think Malad might be #3.
