Who do you have coming back this year?
#1 Zak Bennett (6'1 F 12) #10 Tyson Baker (5'10 F 11) #11 Luke Martin (6'1 F 11) #25 Jai Jai Ely (6'1 G 11)

Any “Key Players” that you lost from last year?
Scott Allison G 5'10, Xavier Banks F 6'1

As a team, what are your offensive strengths?
Good finishers and good outside shooting. Jai Jai Ely is probably our most dynamic offensive player great athletic ability combined with a great natural feel for the game.

Offensive areas you hope to improve on over last year:
We hope to be a better screening and passing team.

As a team, what are your defensive strengths?
We have kids that know how to work hard. Not one person really stands out when it comes to defense.

Defensive Areas you hope to improve on over last year:
Better rebounding and man to man defense are the areas we hope to improve.

Does your team have a motto/theme for the upcoming season?
“You are not tough alone”

What are you most excited about in regards to this year’s team?
We will be fun to watch. We are going to get up and down and get after people.

For the fans, what is the must-see game of the year on your schedule?
I would say Idaho Falls High school. The energy in the building for those games is electric.

What is the ‘X-Factor’ to having success this season as a team?
If we can defend and rebound and the level of our competitions we will be successful. I know that sounds like a pat answer but it’s the truth with our height disadvantage.

If you could change one rule in high school basketball, what would it be?
I would institute the 35 sec shot clock. I think it would improve our game and be more exciting for the kids and the fans. Being down 8 with 2 min in high school with a good dribbling team usually means it’s over. The shot clock would make them play it out.

Besides the pay, the fame and the glory, why do you coach high school basketball?
It’s fun teaching kid’s life lessons and seeing them grow into adults. It’s neat being part of that process and giving them positive things in their life.

What makes your school the best place to coach for?
Here at Skyline we have had great principles and administrators that have supported athletics and who understand how important they can be in the development of young men and women.
