It’s an athletic group of guys, so we hope to get up and down the floor this year. We return one of the top scorers in the state in Travis Yenor. As usual, we plan to mix it up inside and out.

Offensive areas you hope to improve on over last year:
Getting after lose balls, Offensive Rebounding, pushing tempo

As a team, what are your defensive strengths?
Lateral quickness is one of our strengths. We had decent rebounding numbers last year and played pretty good help side.

Defensive Areas you hope to improve on over last year:
Pass/Drive anticipation; creating turnovers.

Does your team have a motto/theme for the upcoming season?
Iron sharpens Iron (Proverbs 27:17)

What are you most excited about in regards to this year’s team?
The players are young this year but bring a lot of energy. There is a lot of potential to go deep into the play-offs. Character-wise, these are a great group of guys.

For the fans, what is the must-see game of the year on your schedule?
Compass Charter, as one of our chief rivals, tends to always give us a battle. Liberty Charter, Wilder, and Notus should be good games.

What is the ‘X-Factor’ to having success this season as a team?
The youth will need to fill in key roles this year. How fast they adapt will be the X-factor.

If you could change one rule in high school basketball, what would it be?
Have a shot clock. It would keep teams from stalling at the end of games.

Besides the pay, the fame and the glory, why do you coach high school basketball?
To use basketball as a tool to teach young men how to deal with the adversity we face in life; to mentor young men.

What makes your school the best place to coach for?
The emphasis on Christian character, not wins and losses. The support of the families also plays a critical role.
