As a team, what are your offensive strengths?
Coming off of a tough 2012/2013 season, the Lady Lions are looking for a much improved offense. With a season behind most players, confidence is going to play a great role in the success of the team. Improvement in scoring and turnovers will be key to Borah’s success. This season the Lady Lions will be lacking in size, but they are not lacking in speed, intensity and experience. The Lady Lions will be looking at an up-tempo offense that pushes the ball up the floor. With a large number of returning players, this year’s team will have the experience to pass and shoot with confidence which was lacking from the previous year. The outside shooting of Kayla Haley, Ashlyn Englehorn and Rylee Randall combined with the diversity of offensive production which includes shooting, strength and quickness supplied by Emiley Schoonover, Kenzie Bilger, Kel Bilger and Mackenzie Chiles will leave opponents guessing as to which player will be the one to stop on any given night.

As a team, what are your defensive strengths?
Learning and understanding the speed of the game was a big adjustment for Borah last year. With the amount of experience that the Lady Lions bring back this season, they are prepared to assert themselves in much more aggressive and pressuring defense. Much like on the offensive end of the court, Borah will be hurt by a lack of size. Making up for it, the Lady Lions show the promise of good team speed and aggressiveness. Improvements in steals and rebounding this season are going to be very important in the success of the Lady Lions.

What are you most excited about in regards to this year’s team?
This year I am very excited to see the development and strides that this team has made from last season. It is very hard for both players and coaches to make adjustments to each other in the first season of transition. The Borah girls are a very hard working and talented group of athletes and seeing them find success on the basketball court will crowning achievement of the 2013/2014 season.

For the fans, what is the must-see game of the year on your schedule?
Intercity opponents always make for must-see games in Boise and this season is not any different. Timberline at Borah December 7th Boise at Borah December 11th Capital at Borah December 17th The second half of the season sends the Lady Lions on the road for all three games. Borah at Timberline January 8th Borah at Boise January 10th (Boise Pink night) Borah at Capital January 17th (Pink night supporting the Susan G. Komen Foundation)

What is the ‘X-Factor’ to having success this season as a team?
The ‘X-Factor’ for Borah this year is going to be playing with confidence. Majority of these girls are experienced varsity athletes, and as long as they play with confidence in every aspect of the game, a great season awaits.

What makes your school the best place to coach for?
Borah provides a fantastic coaching and playing experience thanks to outstanding facilities, hardworking athletes and remarkable support from administration, parents, alumni and the community. A very diverse culture and strong academic outlook allows the student athletes to grow into well rounded and successful young women.
