Any Returning Players with Honors?
Lupita Vargas: All-Conference

Any “Key Players” that you lost from last year?
Hannah Lancaster: Leading Scorer

Do you have any new incoming “impact” players?
We have a good group of young players who will be playing on the Varsity. One of those is Taylor Beebe, guard, Sophomore, 5’2”. A couple juniors that look to contribute this year are Kassidy Kelley, forward, 5”5” and Brooke Behunin, forward, 5’11.”
As a team, what are your offensive strengths?
We feel even though we are young our strength is our guard play with Kirsten Wert, Lupita Vargas, and Taylor Beebe. Even though that is one of our strengths we are going to focus on getting it into the post as well.

Offensive areas you hope to improve on over last year:
We are definitely focused on improving our shooting percentage from last year.

As a team, what are your defensive strengths?
We want a hand in the face of every shot, and create easy baskets from defensive pressure

Defensive Areas you hope to improve on over last year:
Defensive Rebounding

What are you most excited about in regards to this year’s team?
We worked hard this summer to connect as a team, learn each others strengths and roles, and compete.

For the fans, what is the must-see game of the year on your schedule?
Our fans always get excited when we play Gooding and Declo; both teams are always tough and there is history there. That makes it fun.

What is the ‘X-Factor’ to having success this season as a team?
We need to convert easy baskets. Our defense has to create some of our offense.

If you could change one rule in high school basketball, what would it be?
Shot Clock: speeds the game up

Besides the pay, the fame and the glory, why do you coach high school basketball?
I love seeing the young athletes learn and grow when playing the game. When you can see them mature and understand more about the game then they did before, it is very satisfying that you help in that growth.

What makes your school the best place to coach for?
Trojan pride runs deep. Just because there hasn’t been a lot of success at the high school level yet, these girls aren’t afraid to work hard and learn. They are committed to working hard.
