Team Preview

Thanks to an up-tempo offense that puts points on the board in a hurry, Marsh Valley was able to advance to the 3A state tournament last season.

Much of that talent returns again this year, making the Eagles the favorites in the 3A Southeast Idaho Conference.

Point guard Kenzie Gunter does it all for the team, whether providing leadership, scoring punch, rebounding or distribution skills. The senior is one of the best players in the state at her position, giving Head Coach Kyle McQuivey a proven floor leader.

The duo of Gunter and junior wing Paige Vorwaller on the outside will allow the Eagles to once again take plenty of 3-pointers, an area which led to lots of success last season.

Marsh Valley likes to run, and they have the horses to do just that.

Kati Anderson, a senior, returns to solidify the inside game for the squad, an area which will need to be strong to push the team to the next level in the 3A classification.

Joining Anderson is Taya Batts, a sophomore post who McQuivey noted as a key newcomer.

The coach also mentioned multiple areas that he would like to see improved this season for the team including precision, discipline and less turnovers on offense and rebounding and communication on the defensive end.

According to McQuivey the attitude of this team is great and the girls are working hard to reach their goals, which include once again taking the conference title and advancing to state.

As with any team, it will be important for Marsh Valley to stay healthy this season, as there is not as much depth in Arimo as some of the other 3A schools they will go up against.

The Eagles begin the season with a home and away set with Sugar-Salem on Nov. 14 in Arimo and Nov.19 in Sugar City.
