Team Preview

In basketball it is rare the addition of one player will push a team over the top, but at the same time, adding a proven scorer is never a bad thing.

Enter Shae Donaldson for the Grace Grizzlies. Donaldson, formerly of the North Gem team, provides a quality backcourt option for first year Head Coach Jason Nance.

Joining the new addition in the backcourt is returner Josie Jensen, a player with the ability to post up as well as step back and hit jumpers, creating a mismatch for opposing defenses.

While some talent is at the disposal of Nance, he acknowledges the tall task in front of Grace with a whole lot of new being thrown the way of the team.

"We are learning all new offenses and defenses and it is really exciting to see when each of these start to click with the girls."

With a couple of scoring options offensively, the task now is to get all the players comfortable with each other and the system.

It's always easier said than done in that regard, so it might take the Grizzlies a little while longer than they would like to start firing on all cylinders.

Defensively the units strength is slowing down the fast break, while Nance wants them to improve on weak side help.

If you ask the new sideline leader to explain the style Grace will run he'll give you a pretty straight forward answer.

"It's all about simplicity."

Along with Jensen and Donaldson, shooting guard Jenessa Rigby is back and should be one of the top shooters for the Grizzlies.

Look for Grace to be competitive on a nightly basis this year, with the chance for more if the roster can come together as the season goes on.
