As a team, what are your offensive strengths?
We should be a better shooting team this year. We should be able to handle the ball better and hopefully play at a faster tempo.

Offensive areas you hope to improve on over last year:
Our players were very young and inexperienced last year at the varsity level. Hopefully we have grown physically and will be tougher mentally. Skill development has been a focus in the off season. We need to improve our teamwork and offensive rebounding to be able to contend in our league this year.

As a team, what are your defensive strengths?
I think our team defense could be a strength. Attitude and Effort are key.

Defensive Areas you hope to improve on over last year:
I thing the number one area of improvement needs to be our mental toughness when it comes to our defense. We are definitely quicker this year and I think that will help us apply more pressure. Defensive rebounding is the big key that needs improving over last year. Defensive teamwork is a must.

What are you most excited about in regards to this year’s team?
We have the potential to an exciting team. We have improved our skill and hopefully we have matured some. The players are excited to get going. Melba has been competitive in our league for quite a while. We are excited to try and get back to that level.

For the fans, what is the must-see game of the year on your schedule?
Melba vs. New Plymouth, because it is New Plymouth!

What is the ‘X-Factor’ to having success this season as a team?
How well we come together as a team, staying healthy, and rebounding.

If you could change one rule in high school basketball, what would it be?
Add the shot clock. I think the strategy and excitement created by the shot clock is way better for the game.

Besides the pay, the fame and the glory, why do you coach high school basketball?
I love working with young people and hopefully to make a difference in their lives. I also enjoy the relationships with the other coaches and fans from different communities.

What makes your school the best place to coach for?
For me, there is nothing better than small school sports. The community pride that each community has for their teams and the atmosphere at the gym makes coaching competitive and fun. Melba is home for me.
