As a team, what are your offensive strengths?
We should be very balanced and have 5 guys on the court that all have perimeter skills. We will try to push the ball and be aggressive going to the basket and take advantage of open perimeter shots if defenses plug the lane.

Offensive areas you hope to improve on over last year:
We will need to execute better this year by setting better screens, having better timing and spacing, and finishing plays and games.

As a team, what are your defensive strengths?
We will be small and quick so we will try to pressure teams to create turnovers.

Defensive Areas you hope to improve on over last year:
We will have to work hard to keep the ball out of the paint, not give up easy layups, and blockout and rebound.

What are you most excited about in regards to this year’s team?
I’m excited to take a group of great young men that don’t have a lot of varsity experience and help them to improve and grow and hopefully watch them succeed as the year goes on.

For the fans, what is the must-see game of the year on your schedule?
Our games with Bishop Kelly are always intense and great games to watch, but with our conference being so tough this year there will be a lot of great games.

What is the ‘X-Factor’ to having success this season as a team?
How well we defend and rebound inside.

If you could change one rule in high school basketball, what would it be?
I would probably add the half circle under the rim the same way the NBA has to eliminate kids taking charges under the basket. The block/charge is one of the most difficult calls in sports and I think that circle would maybe help to make that call more consistent.

Besides the pay, the fame and the glory, why do you coach high school basketball?
I really enjoy working with the players, watching them improve and having an impact on their lives both on the court and off. I also have loved the game of basketball since I was a kid and being able to do something you love as a job is an incredible opportunity. Finally, I enjoy the mental challenge of coaching from designing plays and defenses to maximize your own team’s potential to evaluating other teams and planning on how to attack them.

What makes your school the best place to coach for?
Our school has a very rich basketball tradition that I have been lucky to be a part of both as a player and a coach. That tradition was built by having great players that came from great families. We are blessed to have such great kids to coach in our program and parents that are so supportive. Now each and every season our program has high expectations and our players work hard and compete to maintain and build upon the Skyview Basketball tradition.
