With graduating the two-time Inland Empire MVP and two-time All-State selection in Max McCullough, the Trojans of Post Falls look for a battle in the 5A Inland Empire League. Coach Mike McLean (11th year) had his team one game away of State in a play-in game that they fell short in.

This McLean coached team will be younger, but just as hungry to battle through a tough league.

“This is a new group that will be working to create their own legacy,” says McLean of this year’s roster.

Returning to this year is senior Cameron Mckeown, juniors David Bougard and Tanner McCliment, and sophomore Jake Pfennigs. Joining them and looking to make an impact early and often is freshman Colby Gennett.

Musts for this team this year to be competitive against the likes of Lake City, Lewiston, and Coeur d’Alene, the Trojans must play defense, not for the majority of games, but at all times. Coach McLean will ask his team to work at taking away as many options as possible and try to create as many easy scoring opportunities.

The Trojans need to play efficient on both sides and not squander opportunities. Defensive and the plan sounds great, but Coach McLean says that scoring needs to happen and a lot. Losing McCullough meant losing a scorer. The legacy that McLean wants his team to create will come with scoring, creating opportunities, and finishing those opportunities. Being unable to finish those opportunities will put even more pressure on the defense.

Every coach believes the Inland Empire League will be competitive. Post Falls will be doing battle and building a new legacy every day, every game.
