Hansen has shown progression in the right direction over the past couple of seasons. Last year saw the Huskies finish with a 10-10 mark, similar to the year prior. The new task is to get over the .500 line and make some noise in the conference tournament come February.

Fifth year Head Coach Jim Lasso has done a great job with the Hansen boys basketball program and now looks to reap the benefits of having two players taller than 6'4" on the roster, something fairly unheard of in 1AD2 basketball.

There is no question what he is most excited about.

"The fact that we have some height. In a small school such as ours, seeing a kid over 6'2" is kind of like an eclipse. They're cool to see, but you don't see them very often."

Lasso expects protecting the rim to be a strength for the Huskies, however there will need to be improvement guarding against the rest of the arsenal of oppositions in the North Side Conference.

"We usually didn't have a problem scoring, it was stopping teams that was our problem."

A lot of that difficulty can be credited to what is a high-powered conference, especially at the top. Dietrich went on to become state championships behind a backcourt led by point guard Garrett Astle. Defending players such as Astle and his Blue Devils teammates is going to be the key to the new year for Hansen.

One newcomer who should help on each end of the floor is sophomore Paxton Stimpson. According to Lasso he sees the floor well and is a good passer.

With the increased size over previous versions of the Huskies, expect a slower pace.

"Based on our size, we'll try to slow things down into a half court game," said Lasso.

To get to the next level he knows it is all about the mindset.

Lasso explained what that means for this particular group.

"Having a 'refuse to lose' mentality. [I'm] trying to get across to the players that you don’t win the game in the first quarter."

Expect this bunch of Huskies to once again be competitive night in and night out in conference play, potentially pulling off a couple upsets come February to make a run.
