Long-time assistant of 12 years, Kevin Chaffee will be moving into the head coaching roll for the Prairie Pirates. He has been on three championship staffs with this program and will be battling to get back there for a chance to add more.

His first year at the helm won’t be an easy task month one. After accepting the head coaching job, priority one would be to replace six solid seniors, including the likes of Jake Bruner. Coach Chaffee will have five players returning, four of which are upperclassmen-Tyson Schlader, Brandon Anderson, Lucas Wemhoff, and Hunter Chaffee. The positive here is that Coach Chaffee as built a relationship with and knows each player extremely well.

Looking to take it one game at a time and to improve individually and as a team, Prairie will be working to be a better team prior to taking on the likes of Lapwai and Genesee. These games always seem to competitive in a competitive league.

Prairie will have plenty of speed, height, and length. They will be looking to find balanced scoring and improved perimeter shooting to extend defenses. With the team speed, Prairie should see plenty of smooth transition opportunities.

If Prairie wants to be in the hunt at the end of the season, they will need to improve their man defense, playing pressure filled, and be able to limit fast break chances with their transition defense.

Team size and speed-have good height/length and look to get balanced scoring in and out.

Improve perimeter shooting, balanced scoring, and post play.
“We are inexperienced heading into the start of the season, but we play well together,” Coach Chaffee on his team preparing for the start of the season.

Prairie will be set to battle the Whitepine competition throughout the season, Coach Chaffee will have his team ready.
