Team Preview

Last season, Lake City found themselves in the State tournament. They drew the tough straw and fell to eventual State champs Centennial. The Timberwolves went on to win the Consolation bracket for the first time since 2009. Lake City will be looking to duplicate their State appearance this season.

As the favorite in the 5A Inland Empire League, Coach Bryan Kelly (fifth year) feel the target squarely in their back. But, with four players returning and two of those already committed to play college basketball, the Timberwolves with their size will look to pound their way back to State.

Nina Carlson (Idaho) and Lauren Rewers (Hawaii) will be back leading this pack of Wolves back to State before heading off with their respective college teams. They will be joined by junior Keara Simpson and sophomore Bridget Rieken.

With so much size, The Timberwolves won’t necessarily play a slowdown pace, but will look to utilize that size and pound the ball inside. They have plenty of offensive weapons, but will need time to figure out the proper way to use it all. Coach Bryant is anticipating opponents to try and speed up his team to counter the size advantage.

Look for this 5A favorite to find their way back into championship consideration.
