Team Preview

After an 18-4 record and a 4th place finish at the State tournament last season, third year coach Chris Dohrman looks to get back to the State tournament and improve on that 4th place finish.

Lakeside is returning seven players, including League MVP and First Team All-State selection Lillian Rhea (post). However, they did graduate three pieces in Talia Hendrickx, Cailyn Dohrman, and Jordyn Nomee that they will look to replace. Rhea has a strong presence inside and will be a solid scorer and rebounder. She won’t be the only option as shooting from the outside will be provide by Corin Peone and newcomer Tommia Pakootas.

This team will be deep and have a lot of experience. There are a few hurdles that Coach Dohrman will be looking to improve upon-execution and fundamentals. This is a talented roster, but Coach Dohrman is determined to make them even better.

“Continue to grow as a team, learn, learn, learn, improve and have fun,” states Coach Dohrman.

He feels they will do just that. Just like every other coach, Coach Dorhman wants to challenge them to reach the next level. It will start with pressing-creating opportunities and limiting foul trouble-, protecting the paint, rotating, and finishing it off with rebounding.

Lakeside will be hitting the court with one focus…Get back to the tournament. They have a solid schedule that fans will want to circle. Lakeside will travel to a tournament at Wellpinit, take on 1A D1 opponent Wallace (twice-home and home), and take on the team that looks to keep them out of State in Genesis Prep (twice-home and home).
