In a conference that has been dominated by Fruitland and Homedale for years, each new season brings hope for the other league foes that they can creep closer towards the top and clinch a playoff spot.

After making it into the first round before falling to Homedale in 2015, Parma fell to 2-7 last year.

With the loss of quarterback Payton Pinz to graduation, the Panthers will need to find a new signal caller and surround him with the options necessary to find success on the offensive end.

Briton Parker looks to be the player that gets that chance, with All-Conference First Team selection Jesse Camacho at running back and Second Team All-Conference honoree Braydon Jensen at receiver.

"[Our] strength is we are athletic and we are a spread offense," said Head Coach Jake Walgamott.

He hopes to see improvement this time around from the offensive line, anchored by Trevor Driskell.

Driskell will also man the front for the defensive line, where he was a First Team All-Conference player last year.

Walgamott likes the athleticism on the defense, especially from the defensive backfield, but notes that improvement needs to occur in regards to slowing down opposing running attacks. If they can slow down those running games, it will allow the Panthers to get their own offense on the field more often and relieve the overall defense of the heavy burden from being on the field so much.

The wide receiver and defensive back positions are some of the highlights for the roster, with Camacho and Parker at defensive back, along with Rafa Camacho and Ricky Almeida playing both ways.

Looking ahead for Parma, this season will get started at home against the 2A Melba Mustangs before a border battle with Vale (OR). Conference play begins on September 29 at Weiser.
