(From Press Release)
The appointment marks a return to the program by Brennan, who served as head coach for 15 seasons, from 1992 through 2006. Brennan had great success on and off the field in the education and development of young men. His overall record of 126-34 (.788) with the Knights included three perfect 12-0 seasons, and six appearances in state championship games.  His teams won the state championship three times, in 1994, 2004, and 2005.

“I’m thrilled to be back at Bishop Kelly and grateful for the opportunity to serve on the faculty once again at this great school,” said Brennan, who will also take on a full time teaching position at BK in the Health & Physical Education Department next fall.  “I look forward to reconnecting with the faculty, parents, and students and doing my part to carry on the rich tradition of Bishop Kelly football.”

Brennan replaces Lee Leslie, who resigned following two seasons as head coach.  Brennan is currently coaching and teaching at Caldwell High School.  Prior to that he was head coach of the Class AAA West Mifflin Titans in Pittsburg, Penn., for three seasons.

Brennan’s BK squads won seven conference crowns, three in the Snake River Conference (1994, 1996, 1999) and four in the 4A Southern Idaho Conference (2001, 2003, 2004, 2005).  In addition, a total of  twelve former Bishop Kelly players who played under Brennan went on to complete football careers at the collegiate level A three-time football letterman at BK, Brennan was the starting quarterback under Coach Ken Krahn in 1975 and 1976.  He also participated in wresting, track, and boxing.  A 1977 graduate, Brennan attended and played football for Carroll College for one year before completing his college degree at Boise State.  He was an assistant at Weiser High School for ten years, working under Head Coach John Srholec, Sr., before coming to BK the first time in 1992.

About Bishop Kelly High School:
Located in Boise, Idaho, Bishop Kelly is a Catholic community of learners and believers whose mission is “to educate and develop the whole student in the Catholic tradition – spirit, mind and body”.  While a Catholic school, 25% of BK students have historically been of other faith traditions.  Bishop Kelly values different insights as it integrates principles of justice, self-discipline, respect and moral responsibility into daily life.  The focus on individual attention sets BK apart from larger schools and allows each student to flourish within a “family atmosphere.”
