The 2013-14 season for the North Fremont Huskies boys basketball team was an historic year.

It didn't end they way the Huskies wanted it to, but it was historic nonetheless.

North Fremont made their first appearance in the boys state basketball tournament ever and won their first boys state basketball trophy of any kind.

What will they have for an encore?

Head coach Todd Jensen hopes that his team is ready to challenge perennial powerhouse Firth for the conference championship.

The Huskies return the trio of Shane Hill, Tanner Oberhansley, and Josh Hess. Those three players will be leaned on heavily to provide leadership for the squad. Daylon Hess and Michael Mower join the varsity squad this year and Jensen believes they will contribute in a positive way.

The aforementioned players will have to make up for the loss of Tagg Jeppesen, Caden Hyde, and Josh Allen, who graduated last year.

Jensen said that he is excited about the balance on his team this year and how quick and aggressive they are, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

A struggle for North Fremont will be in the height department: size will be somewhat of an issue, which led Jensen to say that his squad will have to focus on rebounding and not allowing second-chance points.

If the new team can gel together and play as one, watch out for North Fremont in the Nuclear Conference.
