Welcome to 2014!

Hopefully you all enjoyed a good Christmas/New Years break and that all is well with wherever you are at.

2014 brings a lot of promise and opportunities for all of us. Of the things that are continuing from last year: East Idaho Game Night with IdahoSports.com, KPVI and Z103. This is a valued partnership that we know will continue to blossom as we strive to bring games to you, the viewer, at home. Having personally been a part of this, it's a lot of fun to be involved and to interact with the student-athletes and fans.

Of course, the Boys and Girls Real Dairy Shootouts are coming our way sooner than we think: in six short weeks, the girls state tournament takes place at sites around the Treasure Valley... six weeks! Follow that up with State Wrestling the week after and Boys Real Dairy Shootout the week after that, and it's three full weekends of non-stop high school sports action at its finest!

With the turning of the calendar to the new year, a new endeavor has opened up to me personally. No, I'm not leaving IdahoSports. I am, however, ready to unveil East Idaho's newest local sports radio show: "The Hurricane Harris Hour". The show airs every Saturday morning at 9 a.m. MT on NewsTalk radio with FOUR ways to listen:

1. 97.7 FM/1260 AM (if you live north of Blackfoot).
2. 690 AM (if you live in or south of Blackfoot).
3. Online at eastidahonews.com (or by clicking HERE).
4. The free 'Radio To Go' App for iPhone or Android (just search "Radio To Go Commotion")

You can also interact with the show on social media, including Facebook (facebook.com/hurricaneharrishour) and on Twitter (@HurricaneHour). The more interaction, the better! The phone lines/text lines will be open during the show along with the message chat on the Radio To Go app. It's a lot to remember, but it comes with a lot of ways to connect with YOU.

Each week, we will talk about different issues/hot topics in Idaho high school sports. We will also visit with coaches, players, and media personalities to understand what they see in their particular realm of the sporting world.

2014 looks to be a great year. I hope you can join us for the ride!
