For Meadows Valley, its first things first. Win a game, then start talking about bigger things.

The Mountaineers went winless in 11 games during the 2014-15 season. They have five seniors and 12 total players out in 2015-16, looking to get that elusive win and build on a more successful season this time out.

Heading those returning players are forwards Greg Gregersen, Jordan Parham, Brandon Wittell and Cody Day, as well as guard Sebastian Tapia.

Second-year coach Mike Howard credits his players with playing hard night-in, night-out with a never say die attitude. He hopes they'll be able to channel that into more efficient overall play: better shooting, rebounding and ball-handling, specifically.

On the defensive side of the ball, Meadows Valley needs to continue to work on rebounding positioning and technique, Howard says.

This group is youthful and hard-working, and is hungry to win at least one game this season. If the Mountaineers can prove their talent and stay healthy, they could surprise this season.
