When last we saw the Post Falls boys basketball team, they were putting the finishing touches on a 25-1 season and their fourth state championship in program history, winning an overtime classic at the Idaho Center in March. The target will squarely be on their backs, but the returning players want to write their own legacy in the halls of Post Falls High.

The Trojans return five players from last season, including first-team all-state guard Max McCullough, who stole the headlines in the state tournament but also earned the Inland Empire League’s Player of the Year award. Joining him are senior guards Zach Hillman and Blake McLean, junior guard Wyatt Millsap and sophomore swingman Jake Pfennigs.

Offensively the game flows through McCullough, but 10 Trojans can get involved offensively, and swift ball movement will look to break opposing defenses down and create higher-percentage scoring opportunities.

Defensively Post Falls has traditionally been solid and will continue to try to dictate tempo and take away the top opposing offense’s options. Team defense is the name of the game.

Continual improvement day by day and a commitment to building from last season’s title run should make Post Falls a formidable foe, even as it navigates one of the best boys basketball leagues in the state.
