Team Preview

Ending the 2013-2014 campaign at 12-12, the Lakeside Knights were simply an average team in the 1A D2 classification. Head coach Chris Dohrman will look to change that this season.

Last season, the Knights won four out of their last five games. Coach Dohrman will look to build off of the late season success his team experienced into the new season.

“We are most excited about the opportunity to improve off of what we accomplished last year,” Dohrman said.

The Knights lost no key players and that has coach Dohrman very excited about this year’s team. Olivia Palmer and Tara Allen, both freshmen will just add to Dohrman’s already experienced team.
“We have a good group of ladies who have played together for three to four years,” said Dohrman.

In his second season, Dohrman will rely on his postgame for success in this upcoming season. Cailyn Dohrman will provide that post presence the Knights need. Along with Cailyn Dohrman, Talia Hendrickx will also return, leading the Knights into the new campaign. The two will be coach Dochrman’s go to players when the game is on the line.

“We must play at our level of basketball every night, regardless of who we’re playing,” coach Dohrman explained.

Defense will have to be a point of emphasis for the Knights. In Dohrman’s first game at the helm, his team surrendered 81 points to Timberlake. In addition, the Knights allowed 84 to Lapwai in another early season matchup.

This season, the Knights have to crack down on defense by containing shots, blocking out on rebounds to prevent second chance shots, and creating on-ball pressure. If these areas can be addressed, look for the Lakeside Knights to make some noise this season.
