With three years at the helm at Timberline, Coach Jon Bower looks to improve on his team’s fifth place finish in a tough Whitepine Division 2 Conference. It will not be an easy task, but Coach Bower is ready. With his senior-led squad, they will be more experienced and battle tested.

He is returning four players from last year’s club, including Conference Honorable Mention Durgan Jared. As the point guard, Jared will be called upon to be the leader and floor general. Jared, known for his quickness, must use that as well as his smarts to tear through opposing defenses, while being able to create and share the ball with his teammates.

Along with Jared, the other guards will be asked to be speedy on the offensive side, while reducing turnovers. It will be important for Coach Bower’s team to take care of the ball and increase the amount of shot opportunities. Defensively, Coach Bower is asking his team to play together and help each other out. This has been a strength. Between that and the senior leadership, Coach Bower believes in this team, but asks them to improve their rebounding and limit shots and possessions for the other team. To be in the right place at the end of each games, rebounding and ball security are musts.

Timberline starts their season off on the road for the first two games at Clearwater Valley and Logos. Their first home game will be the one you want to watch, per Coach Bower. The Battle of the 6C, a game against Orofino, will have fans piling into the gym.

Timberline and Coach Bower have the pieces: senior leadership, speed, quickness, a strong team defense, and Honorable Mention Dugan Jared. Time will tell just how the pieces get put together in time for the post season.
