The runnin' Chiefs look to be back at full strength this season and ready to make some ground in conference play.

With a talent pool of experience mixed with plenty of talent, first year Head Coach Justin Dance enters into a pretty good situation in Fort Hall.

Two players figure to lead the way in the scoring department for Sho-Ban in seniors Kiel Sabori and point guard John Osborne.

"Kiel Sabori should get a lot of points off of drives and finishes in the paint," said Dance. "John Osborne should hit a lot of threes and lead the team in assists and Colton [Baldwin] will be an in-between player that can shoot drive or pass. We hope to play inside-out, letting our tough guard play take control of the game. We should be fast so we want to run the court and score off of forced turnovers."

Offensively the big challenge will be the lack of size.

"Our bigs are small, young and developing. We need to help them become a force. We also need to work on ball movement and smart basketball."

Not many teams can match the speed and intensity that Sho-Ban plays with on the hardwood, however in order to maximize that potential, the Chiefs are looking for improvement on the defensive end as well as better half court offense.

"Internally we need ball movement and team defense in order to contend with the leaders in the district," said Dance.

Two other key newcomers for Sho-Ban will be freshmen Austin Baldwin and Tuff Medicinetop. Talon Tsotsoni is a returner at the shooting guard position who can help fill up the basket on offense also.

Without much size, boxing out and staying away from foul trouble is integral.

"We are a smaller team, so rebounding and protecting the paint will be difficult for us. I also expect a few players to be in foul trouble most of the time trying to play with the bigs, or through the pressure, and it's something we struggled with last year and need to work on."

Behind Osborne and Sabori the Chiefs have enough firepower to contend for the top of the conference this season. Along with Rockland and Butte County, Sho-Ban has the ability to give opposing coaching staffs headaches.
