The State Championship game seems to be a place for Lapwai. The past two seasons, the Wildcats dominated their way into the championship. Both years the would come up just short. Last season, the only loss the Wildcats encountered was in their final game.

This season looks to be much of the same. The Wildcats are the heavy favorites in the 1A D1 Whitepine League. First-year coach Bob Sobotta is well aware of the basketball tradition. Sobotta has a strong returning group led by Ivory Miles-Williams and Cameron Shawl (recovering from a football injury). The Wildcats will be deep, athletic, and fast.

Within the Whitepine League, the target will be large. Prairie, Genesee, and Troy will be out to knock off the Wildcats.

When it comes down to it, Lapwai will find themselves right back where they have been-a solid and talented team looking to win it all.
