Shoshone will compete in a mixed schedule once again in 2019, with five JV opponents and two varsity foes on the schedule.

Seventh year head coach Michael Perry has been working to build the program up despite small numbers, something which has proven challenging over the last couple of seasons, with just one win since September 24 of 2016.

Seniors Andrew Sant, Tyson Chapman and Joe Koonce are some of the returners from last year that are expected back.

Sant mans the quarterback duties on offense and joins Chapman and Koonce as linebackers on the defensive side of the ball. Both Chapman and Koonce are the primary ball carriers.

The Indians had success getting the ball into the end zone on multiple occasions last season, including piling up 42 points in a season opening win over the Valley JV and 38 in the season finale against Grace.

The defense allowed 40 points or more on a handful of occasions and will be a focus area for improvement in 2019. With minimal depth residing within the program, staying healthy and making the most of the limited substitution opportunities that exist is essential.

One of the two games against varsity opponents this season will take place right out of the chutes when Shoshone welcomes in the Richfield Tigers.
