Give It Up For Our Action Photographers
Let's take a minute to thank the guys and gals who watch the tournaments with one eye shut.

IdahoSports.com has been posting action photos of high school athletes for a long time. A very long time. If you look hard you can find galleries going all the way back to the 2001-2002 school year.

Here some you may have missed: www.idahosportsnetwork.com

We were traveling around the state taking pictures years before we started webcasting. I was actually the first photographer way back at the turn of the century. I was pretty hip with my Nikon Coolpix 995. Thankfully, for everyone's sake, that didn't last long as the professionals - Linda Lemons and Jeff Pedersen - came on board to add a little class to the joint.

After that, we continued to attract great photographers from all over the state. What started as a few hundred pictures every year turned in to thousands. We don't have an exact count, but it is safe to say that our photographers post tens of thousands of action photos every year.

Our action photo department is now run by, hands-down, the best sports photographer in the west. Steve Conner is regularly featured in publications like Sports Illustrated, ESPN Magazine and ESPN.com. The guy is good.

Working with Steve are a group of photographers that spend their own time and money going to games taking pictures of athletes all over Idaho. During the Girls Real Dairy Shootout last week our photographers posted 75 action photo galleries. Next week they will converge on the Treasure Valley to cover every team playing in the Boys Real Dairy Shootout.

Our action photographers do what they do because they love it. They have a passion for it and it shows. They keep 100 percent of everything they make from the sales of their photos, so make sure you check out the galleries every day. I guarantee that there are shots in there that you will want to have in your photo albums.

When you are at boys state next week, take a minute to thank the photographer that is at your game. You will know who they are. They'll be the ones watching the game through a viewfinder with one eye shut.
