As a team, what are your offensive strengths?
This year will be a rebuilding year for the lady pirates with the loss of our whole varsity squad (the eight seniors). We are going to look for Matea Pearson and Ashlyn Taylor to step in and fill those leadership roles. Senior Kylee Price will handle the ball for us this year. She returns this year, after recovering from knee injuries her freshman and sophomore year.

Offensive areas you hope to improve on over last year:
This year our focus is to take care of the ball and work on our fundamentals. With our height and strength, we should be able to hold our own on the boards and capitalize on second chance points.

As a team, what are your defensive strengths?
We will have a young scrappy team. We look to Matea Pearson, Ashlyn Taylor and Maisy Smith to be strong inside the paint.

Defensive Areas you hope to improve on over last year:
This year’s team will work on being aggressive, and stopping penetration to the basket.

Does your team have a motto/theme for the upcoming season?
We have a symbol on the back of our uniform that stands for unity and team work. The team goal is to work hard in practice and strive to improve in every game.

What are you most excited about in regards to this year’s team?
We are young, so I am excited to see who steps up and wants to play a key role on the team. I also look forward to see how we come together as a team and improve as the season progresses.

What is the ‘X-Factor’ to having success this season as a team?
Hard work, Good Decision making and Execution.

Besides the pay, the fame and the glory, why do you coach high school basketball?
I enjoy working with the athletes and watching them improve and find success, on the basketball floor and in life. A basketball season is a short duration of time, but the lessons of hard work, discipline and a positive attitude are all key factors that will help these girls succeed throughout the remainder of their lives. It is also exciting to see a team come together in a unified effort and work to find success.

What makes your school the best place to coach for?
We have hard working athletes with great parental support. We also have great fans that support the athletes and basketball program.
