Years as Head Coach: 3rd season

Record Last Year: 4-16

Team Preview

Written by: Ryan Lee

The Meridian Lady Warriors basketball team took a step back last year and finished with an underperforming 4-16 record, ending their streak of four consecutive state appearances.

Entering the 2014-15 season, Meridian lost a handful of seniors to graduation and returns four players that have seen varsity playing time since they were sophomores.

Returning this year for the Warriors are two three year starters in senior forward, Ebony Norman, and senior guard, Carli Rice. Both of them return at starting positions and have seen valuable court time since they were sophomores.

Both will be key for Meridian if they want to be competitive in the 5A SIC “Pod B” half of the conference.

Guard play has carried Meridian in years past but third year Coach Amos Lee hopes they will be more balanced this season and hopes they can build off the experience gained during last year’s disappointing season.

The Lady Warriors will be more matured this season and will have key seniors that will provide leadership and experience at key positions. They will be in the tougher half of the conference (Pod B) and will have to battle with Boise, Mountain View, Columbia, Eagle, and Vallivue. Meridian will have an uphill climb to qualify for state this season, but after a season of losing a high percentage of close games, they will prove to be a worthy competitor on a nightly basis.

GAMES TO WATCH: Meridian will only play neighborhood rival Rocky Mountain once this season. That game is scheduled to be played @ Rocky Mountain on January 10, 2015.
