Volleyball is here!! The 2026 season officially started this past week and it showed there are some teams with major traction! 

The Peg Peterson Tournament champions are the Rigby Trojans! Congratulations Rigby! 

This killer start showcased how Rigby is on the rise to be a contender at state this season. They have big goals ahead with Acacia Taylor, Giada Bertagnolli and Brinley Larsen leading their team to win out in bracket play on Saturday. 

Brinley is the QB on the court for Rigby, gifting her big hitters and leading the state in assists after Week 1. Giada is a dominant player at the net and is committed to Air Force and Acacia is a powerhouse presence committed to LC State. These seniors are ready to battle!

The Trojans have a very experienced team with mainly juniors and seniors, which helps with court sense and confidence on the court. In the championship match, the Trojans faced the Kimberly Bulldogs, a fierce opponent who also went undefeated up to that point. 

The Kimberly Bulldogs are a strong contender in their respective division as well. Kimberly’s key players this year include Taya Plew, Karlie Bair and Kynlee Klinger.

Taya is someone who is so fun to watch, whether it’s seeing her get a kill in volleyball or a bucket on the basketball court, she is an outstanding athlete. Just an awesome, well-rounded athlete for Kimberly. 

Another stellar senior multi-sport athlete is Karlie Bair, who is big at the net and keys Kimberly’s success. 

Kynlee played varsity as a freshman and is coming in hot as a sophomore. Kynlee plays volleyball year round and with that court presence will continue to grow as a young star for the Bulldogs!

The Butte County Pirates were the Ririe Bulldog Bash tournament winners! Butte County looks different after losing some key players from last year but there are on the hunt for back-to-back-to-back championships in 2A this year. 

Leading the way are seniors Cambree Lyon, Madi Gamett, Autumn Gamett, and Taylee Roberts. Butte County is competitive and the program helps elevate their younger players. 

Cambree is the definition of “boom-boom firepower” if you get to see her play. Her swing is strong and you’ll hear it if you are in a gym where she is playing. Autumn will set things up all over the court and save a ball when everyone thinks the play is over. 

Butte County has a lot to live up to but they are putting in the work to finish as a top team once again.

Kellogg, Rockland, and Ririe tied for second as Kellogg split sets with Butte County and so did Rockland. Butte County was the winner by total points over Kellogg and Rockland. Kellogg and Rockland split sets as well and Rockland was the winner by points, but then there was a Rockland and Ririe split as well, where Ririe won by points. Are you confused yet? Fun times and congrats to Butte County for winning it all!

Week 1 is done and we are so excited to see all that was accomplished! Volleyball is growing and it is so exciting to see! Good luck to all teams this season and congrats to the teams who came out on top!
