Poll Methodology
The Statewide Volleyball Coaches Poll is determined by a simple points system based on how each coach ranks the top five teams in their classification. A team receives five points for a first place vote, four points for a second place vote and so on down through the fifth place team, which receives one point. The rankings are set by listing the teams' point totals from highest to lowest.

Malad gets a 1st place vote? Kellogg is 4th??
Not sure who voted like this, unless it's the Malad coach. How else would a 4-3 team, including a loss to a 2A team get a 1st place vote? Kellogg and Ambrose are undefeated... How is Kellogg not 2nd?

Worse than a joke - it's a credibility destroyer
What I thought were just two "homer" coaches voting for their own teams (Malad and Kellogg) is actually far worse. Not only did these coaches vote for Malad and Kellogg to be first in 3A, they had the credibility crushing audacity to exclude Ambrose from their ballot. A first place vote is worth 5 pts. Ambrose received 3 first placed votes out of 5 and a total of 15 pts. That means that the Malad and Kellogg voting coaches not only made first place votes for their own teams, they deliberately chose to exclude Ambrose from their ballots. How is this possible? Their voting privileges ought to be revoked and offered to other coaches. It makes the poll a laughing stock. If these two coaches want to make a case that their teams ought to be first, whom did they place in the 2nd-5th spots on their ballot? A quick calculation shows that apart from Malad voting for itself, the other four coach voters likely put Malad in 4th place (3 votes) and 5th place (1 vote) to arrive at 12 pts. It appears that Kellogg, apart from its "homer" coach first place vote, received likely 0-1 4th place votes and 3-4 5th place votes to arrive at 8 pts. Grow up coaches. Stop ruining the poll.
