Last season the Logo Knights ran the floor so fast you could have easily mistaken them for a track team.

Turns out, that assessment would not have been that far off, as team leader Paul Ryan has now moved on to a collegiate track scholarship at Washington State.

In total, the Knights lost close to 60 points per game from last season, meaning those that do return and the newcomers will have big shoes to fill.

“We have a good core of athletes returning who are intelligent, unselfish and hardworking and some underclassmen who are eager to get into the fight,” said Head Coach Matt Whitling.

Returning this season is a group of four seniors led by Cotton Whitling and Alec Engerbretson, both seniors who will man the ball-handling duties for the most part. The other two seniors are Danny Bradley and Jon Morris, a good inside-out combination.

While plenty of production from last year is gone, don’t expect the Knights style of running the floor to change that much with the new group.

Now the task is finding consistency on offense.

“We will be investing ourselves in establishing a consistent offensive flow this year,” stated Coach Whitling.

Expect the athleticism to help Logos out on the defensive side of the floor as well.

“On the defensive end we have guys who are quick, aggressive and who aren’t afraid to take risks,” said Whitling. “One area of focus will be incorporating some new faces into our lineup and giving those players an opportunity to learn and improve through varsity level experience.”

On and off the floor, the Knights are a standout group that looks to make some noise once again at the 1AD2 classification after making it to the state tournament last year.

“This year’s team is extremely good at overcoming adversity,” said Whitling. “I’m excited to see them embrace their challenges, take their lumps and become better men because of it.”
