CLASS 5A

Coeur d’Alene 40, Union (WA) 10

The Vikings (4-2) traveled all the way over to Washington’s western coast to defeat Union High School on Friday night. Caden Symons threw four touchdown passes in the win. Kolbe Coey caught two TDs, while Jamison Kizziar and Kai Wheeler each hauled in a score. Carsen Speelman and Isaac Rook also scored on the ground.

Mt. Spokane (WA) 29, Post Falls 13

The Trojans (4-2) raced out to a 13-0 lead, but Mt. Spokane’s defense pitched a shutout the rest of the way to earn the non-conference win. Post Falls lost starting quarterback Isaac McKeown to an injury on the first drive of the game. Caden Smith entered and threw for 77 yards and a four-yard touchdown pass to Alex Shields. Tevin Burns also rushed for 184 yards and a touchdown.

Lewiston 48, Moscow 6

Under heavy rainfall, the Class 5A Bengals (2-3) turned to the ground game, and Jackson Lathen responded with five rushing touchdowns in a non-conference win over Class 4A Moscow (1-5). In addition to Lathen’s heroics, Drew Hottinger and Mason Way also scored rushing TDs. Moscow scored on a touchdown pass from Noah Velasco to Connor Isakson.

Meridian 37, Centennial 7

Meridian (3-0 SIC Foothills, 4-2 overall) stayed undefeated in Foothills Division play, as Zeke Martinez threw for 162 yards and three touchdowns to lead the way. Martinez’ three TDs went to three different receivers (Cole Jones, Carver Martin and Parker Bunderson), while Martin and Bunderson also ran for touchdowns.

Rocky Mountain 38, Capital 15

Rocky Mountain (3-0 SIC Foothills, 4-2 overall) literally ran past Capital (1-2, 2-4) in an SIC Foothills Division game. The Grizzlies rushed for 320 yards as a team, led by Trey Broadbent’s 101 yards. Cam Crum scored two rushing touchdowns, while Broadbent, Carson Adams and Zack Schledewitz also found the end zone. Capital’s Joren Peterson and Austin Brown each scored a rushing TD in the loss.

Middleton 49, Timberline 20

Middleton (1-2 SIC Foothills, 4-2 overall) won their first divisional game in SIC play, as Paxti Franks rushed for 138 yards and four touchdowns in the win. Timberline’s Hudson Lewis scored twice to lead the Wolves.

Eagle 40, Boise 21

In a matchup of undefeated teams in the SIC River Division, Eagle (4-0 River, 6-0 overall) flexed their muscles in a runaway win over Boise (3-1, 5-1). The Mustangs led 40-0 before Boise High accumulated points late. Noah Burnham rushed for 199 yards and four touchdowns in the win, while Eagle had five defenders (Jack Giannini, Eli Mikita, Makeo Sneddon, Chance Jones and Oliver Stephens) collect an interception. Trevor Schoolfield threw three TDs late for the Brave (two to Jordan McDonald, one to Cooper Smith).

Owyhee 28, Nampa 14

In a Thursday night contest, Owyhee (3-2 SIC River, 5-2 overall) doubled up Nampa (0-5, 0-6) to earn the divisional win. The Storm rushed for 209 yards and passed for 107 yards in the win, while holding Nampa to 249 yards of total offense.

Mountain View 52, Kuna 15

The Mavericks (2-2 SIC River, 4-2 overall) were without starting quarterback Justin McGee, but it didn’t matter. Backup Henry Nelson threw for 249 yards and three touchdowns to lead Mountain View to the win. Kuna (1-3, 3-3) was paced by Austin Lattimer’s 108 yards and a touchdown rushing.

Highland 44, Blackfoot 0

The Class 5A Rams (5-1) bounced back from their first loss of the season a week ago by shutting out Class 4A Blackfoot (0-6). Drew Hymas passed for 194 yards and five touchdowns in the victory.

Rigby 42, Skyline 21

Class 5A Rigby (3-3) has quietly rebounded after starting the year 0-3. Their latest win came after Luke Flowers threw for 322 yards and three touchdowns, and Brecken Searle caught seven passes for 175 yards and all three scores. Class 4A Skyline (3-3) was led by Amani Morel, who scored two rushing touchdowns.

Thunder Ridge 39, Bonneville 24

Class 5A Thunder Ridge (1-6) picked up their first win of the year over Class 4A Bonneville (3-3). Preston McDaniel threw for 335 yards and four touchdowns for the Titans in the win. Hudson Harker caught seven passes for 200 yards and three touchdowns, while Kody Robinson had 93 yards and a TD receiving. Bonneville’s Mateo Medrano caught three passes for 177 yards and two scores, while Keaton Trane rushed for 77 yards and two TDs.


CLASS 4A

Sandpoint 32, Lake City 6

Class 5A Lake City (2-4) fumbled on the opening kickoff of the game. Class 4A Sandpoint (3-3) recovered, then scored on an eight-yard run from Max Frank, setting the tone for a dominant non-conference win. Frank also caught a 19-yard TD from Drew Lehman, and Lehman also hit Ashlei Hawkins for an 18-yard scoring strike. Eli Allhouse returned a fumble 38 yards for a score, and Reid Bradburn nailed a 33-yard field goal to round out the Sandpoint scoring. Lake City scored on a one-yard run from quarterback Avrey Cherry.

Emmett 35, Columbia 28

The Huskies (1-1 Southern Idaho Conference, 4-2 overall) survived a tight battle with Columbia (0-3, 2-4) thanks to the workhorse statline of Quentin Smith. Smith rushed for 206 yards and two touchdowns on just 15 carries, averaging 13.7 yards per rush. Lincoln Thayn and Ryder Scheibe also rushed for TDs, while Scheibe threw a touchdown pass to Isaac Brennan.

Ridgevue 26, Vallivue 16

Ridgevue (1-1 SIC, 2-3 overall) scored their first win over Vallivue (1-3, 1-5) in school history thanks to some fourth quarter magic. The Falcons led 16-11 in the fourth period, before Cash McKie rushed for two touchdowns to lead the Warhawks to the come-from-behind win. Izaiah Kasper returned a kickoff 99 yards for a score for Ridgevue, as well. Onix Carson and Isaac Moore each scored a rushing TD for Vallivue.

Bishop Kelly 59, Burley 7

Bishop Kelly (6-0) led 52-7 at halftime in a runaway win over Burley (2-4). Peter Minnaert scored three rushing touchdowns for the Knights, and added a fourth score on a touchdown reception from Ben Avella. Avella also threw a pair of TDs to Cooper Cammann, and Tylan Kaschmitter scored a rushing TD. Burley scored on a touchdown pass from Mack Jensen to Gatlin Bair.

Caldwell 47, Nyssa (OR) 20

The Cougars (1-5) piled up 601 yards of total offense in a runaway win over the Nyssa Bulldogs. Caldwell rushed for 355 yards and passed for 246 in picking up their first win of the season.

Minico 51, Canyon Ridge 13

Minico (3-0 Great Basin Conference, 5-2 overall) showed incredible balance on offense, rushing for 232 yards and passing for 219. Carson Wayment threw five touchdowns in the win, including two to Ryker Stimpson. The Spartans also returned a punt 66 yards for a score. Conner Willis threw two touchdowns for Canyon Ridge (1-1, 5-1).

Twin Falls 68, M
ountain Home 22

Twin Falls (2-0 Great Basin Conference, 5-1 overall) jumped out to a 55-0 halftime lead en route to the conference win. Wyatt Solosabal rushed for 118 yards and four touchdowns on just ten carries, while Sam Martin and TJ Hickmon also scored rushing TDs. Solosabal also returned a kickoff 79 yards for a touchdowns. William Marlowe completed 9-of-10 passes for 183 yards and two touchdowns. Carter Orr led the receivers with four grabs for 84 yards and a score. Tristan Abrego and Cade King both rushed for touchdowns for Mountain Home (0-3, 1-5).

Pocatello 10, Shelley 7

Shelley (3-3) struck early, scoring in the first quarter on a touchdown pass from Brecker Williams to Chase Ricks. That lead stood for quite some time. Pocatello made a quarterback change at halftime, moving Julian Bowie from wide receiver to under center, and the Thunder (3-2) slowly made their way back into the game. Midway through the fourth quarter, Carson Christensen scored on a touchdown run to tie the game at 7-7. Then, with 1:30 remaining, Garret Keller knocked home a 33-yard field goal to give Pocatello the 10-7 advantage.

Hillcrest 14, Madison 0

Class 4A Hillcrest (6-0) remained undefeated in a grind-it-out win over Class 5A Madison (4-3). Peyton King completed 10-of-18 passes for 80 yards and a touchdown to Jace Jeudy. Jeudy led the receivers with 25 yards on four grabs. King rushed for 85 yards, Trason Keller added 63 yards, and Braxton Battleson scored on a two-yard TD run.

Idaho Falls 41, Century 16

Idaho Falls (2-4) opened the scoring with a 70-yard touchdown pass from Bradley Elison to Taylor Cardon and the race was on from there. Elison threw four touchdowns and rushed for a fifth. Century scored on a 50-yard touchdown run by Spencer Pease and a 35-yard touchdown pass from Deagan Crabtree to Ashton Jenkins.


CLASS 3A

Homedale 48, Payette 0

Homedale (2-0 Snake River Valley Conference, 6-0 overall) rolled to the league win thanks to another precision passing performance from Dillon Fine. Fine completed 12-of-14 passes for 270 yards and four touchdowns. Fine also came away with an interception on defense, while Brock Walker registered 11 tackles and a pick six. Rafael Cuenca caught three passes for 127 yards and two touchdowns, while Danny Lomeli caught five balls for 74 yards and a TD. Oklin Carson caught two passes for 48 yards and two touchdowns, as well. Payette (0-2, 1-5) was led by Tyler Feeley’s 95 yards rushing.

Weiser 20, McCall-Donnelly 7

The Wolverines (2-0 Snake River Valley, 6-0 overall) handed McCall-Donnelly (1-1, 4-1) their first loss of the season, while remaining undefeated themselves. Kaleb Grove rushed for 150 yards in the win, while quarterback Kolin Cook rushed for 31 yards and two touchdowns. Ryndon Olsen added field goals of 22 and 32 yards in the victory. The Vandals scored on a touchdown pass from Maddox Arnold to Colt Value.

Fruitland 69, Parma 7

Freshman Titus Vidlak completed 15-of-19 passes for 205 yards and five touchdowns as Fruitland (1-1 Snake River Valley, 1-5 overall) picked up their first win of the season over Parma (0-2, 0-6). Vidlak also rushed for a pair of short touchdowns in the victory. Quinn Hood led the Grizzlies’ defense with 11 tackles, Brigham Walker recovered a fumble, and Jack Dressen, Austin Tesnohlidek and Coye Coffman all came away with interceptions.

Kimberly 55, Filer 0

The Bulldogs (1-0 Sawtooth Central Idaho Conference, 6-0 overall) piled up 302 total yards on offense in a shutout win over Filer (0-2, 0-6). Kade Larson completed 10-of-14 passes for 135 yards and three touchdowns, and added 103 yards rushing in the win. Damon Taylor added 93 yards and two scores on the ground, while Michael Goff caught both of his passes for 34 yards and two TDs. Mason Jensen led the defense with three sacks.

Buhl 31, Gooding 7

Buhl (2-0 SCIC, 4-2 overall) remained unbeaten in league play with a win over Gooding (0-1, 1-5). Riley Brunson rushed for 144 yards and a touchdown for the Indians, while Dillon Summy hauled in two touchdown passes. Brunson and Summy also both intercepted passes on defense, while Buhl collected five sacks as a team, as well.

Wood River 24, Jerome 21

Class 3A Wood River (3-4) used a couple of big pass plays to earn the win over Class 4A Jerome (0-6). Kyle Ipsen passed for 227 yards and three touchdowns. One TD pass went 95 yards, while another was from 75 yards out.

Teton 59, Snake River 36

Teton (5-0) exploded for nearly 60 points in a non-conference win over Snake River (3-3). Jack Nelson opened the scoring with a touchdown strike to Max Atchley. Atchley then took a punt back for a touchdown, and Teton rolled from there.

Sugar-Salem 55, Timberlake 8

The Diggers (6-0) traveled north to Spirit Lake and once again ran the ball effectively, rushing for 226 yards as a team in the win. Carson Harris led the way with 101 yards and two touchdowns, while Tate Cutler also found the end zone on the ground. Quarterback James Chase also enjoyed a fine night, throwing for 232 yards and five touchdowns. Timberlake (4-3) scored on a five-yard run by Jonathan Hansen.


CLASS 2A

Grangeville 58, Orofino 6

The Bulldogs (1-0 Central Idaho League, 2-3 overall) won their league opener over the Maniacs (0-2, 0-4). Cooper Poxleitner rushed for a pair of touchdowns, and also returned a fumble 22 yards for a score. David Goicoa threw touchdown passes to Kaycen Sickles and Tayden Wassmuth, while Gage Smith threw a touchdown to Tate Schumacher. Carter Mundt was the third different Bulldog to throw a touchdown, as he found Jaden Legaretta for a one-yard score, while Terry Eich rushed for a touchdown. Orofino scored on a 74-yard run by Aiden Olive.

St. Maries 28, Bonners Ferry 0

Trey Gibson enjoyed another strong night running the football as Class 2A St. Maries (2-4) defeated Class 3A Bonners Ferry (0-5). Gibson rushed for 286 yards and all four Lumberjacks touchdowns. Brody Rice passed for 61 yards for the Badgers in the loss.

Kellogg 27, New Plymouth 8

The Wildcats (2-4) and Pilgrims (3-3) met at Praire High School on Saturday for a neutral-site non-conference game. Kellogg held the high-octane New Plymouth offense in check by forcing six turnovers defensively. Among the defensive highlights was a 55-yard pick six from Tom O’Neill and a safety forced by a tackle in the end zone. Offensively, Reed Whatcott threw three touchdowns (two to Coleman Blalack, one to Jaeger Hall). New Plymouth scored on a one-yard run by Payton Travis.

Melba 21, Cole Valley Christian 0

Cole Valley Christian (0-2 Western Idaho Conference, 2-4 overall) had no answer for Melba’s aggressive defense. The Mustangs forced five turnovers and came up with four sacks in a smothering defensive effort. Offensively, Melba (1-0, 4-1) rushed for 365 yards as a team.

Nampa Christian 24, Marsing 8

After holding a tenuous 12-8 lead at halftime, Nampa Christian (2-0 WIC, 4-2 overall) pitched a second-half shutout to remain unbeaten in conference play. Trojans quarterback Aiden Thompson threw for 130 yards and a touchdown to Tyler Szilagyi, while also rushing for 106 yards and a score. Matthew Nevarez chipped in with 45 yards and a touchdown rushing, while Hunter Hafer grabbed two interceptions on defense. Marsing (1-1, 4-2) scored on a rushing touchdown by Mason Enochson.

Declo 21, Marsh Valley 16

Class 2A Declo (6-0) put the clamps down on Class 3A Marsh Valley (0-6) in a non-conference win. Will Garrard rushed for a pair of touchdowns, and also threw a touchdown pass to Max Snedaker for the Hornets. Marsh Valley was paced by Cooper Bowman, who threw a touchdown passes to Corbridge Bastian and Christian Bastian.

Wendell 24, American Falls 6

Class 2A Wendell (5-2) earned the home win over Class 3A American falls (3-4) thanks to a sturdy defense and efficient offense. Alex Hirai completed 10-of-17 passes for 183 yards and a touchdown, while Bodey Cutler caught four balls for 100 yards and a TD. Jesse Chavez added 60 yards and a pair of touchdowns rushing. Julian Ponce led the defense with nine tackles.

West Side 56, Soda Springs 12

A close game for most of the first half, West Side (2-0 South East Idaho Conference, 4-1 overall) eventually put their foot on the gas in the third quarter to win over Soda Springs (0-3, 0-6). Parker Moser rushed for 197 yards and three touchdowns, caught two passes for 37 yards and a TD, and returned a kickoff 70 yards for a score. Colten Gundersen added 71 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

Aberdeen 42, Malad 30

Aberdeen (2-0 South East, 4-1 overall) won a high-scoring affair with Malad (1-1, 4-3) by scoring on every single possession offensively. The deciding touchdowns came in the fourth quarter from Luke Shackelford and Juan Hernandez.

Firth 36, Ririe 30 (2OT)

Firth (1-0 Nuclear Conference, 2-3 overall) outlast Ririe (0-1, 2-3) in a double overtime thriller on Friday night. The two sides were tied at 14-14 at the end of the third quarter. In the fourth, Firth quarterback Darrell Vasquez scored on a one-yard sneak and ran in the two-point conversion for a 22-14 lead. But Ririe answered, as freshman quarterback James Hansen hit sophomore Kolter Lewis for a two-yard touchdown. Ririe successfully converted the two points on a jump pass, and the two sides headed to overtime tied at 22-22. In overtime, Firth had the ball first, and scored on their first play from scrimmage, as they scored on a ten-yard run. Vasquez ran in the two-point conversion, and Firth led 30-22. It took Ririe two plays to score on their possession, as Aaron Martinez found the end zone on an eight-yard run. Now trailing 30-28, the Bulldogs converted the two-point conversion on a run by Ian Johnson. In double overtime, Ririe had the ball first, and on second down, Hansen was intercepted by Firth’s Chase Shook. Two plays later, Vasquez sneaked in it from two yards away, and Firth walked off with the 36-30 win.


CLASS 1AD1

Logos 76, Potlatch 36

In a battle of Whitepine League unbeatens, Logos (5-0 Whitepine, 6-0 overall) left no doubt: the Knights are the Whitepine’s most dominant team in 2023. Jack Driskill threw for four touchdowns and rushed for three scores in the win. Three of the four TDs went to Ryan Daniels, whle Lucius Comis caught a touchdown from both Driskill and Henry Sundlie. Comis and Dominc Porras each scored rushing TDs, also. Potlatch quarterback Jack Clark rushed for four touchdowns and threw a score to Waylon Marshall. He exited the game in the second quarter with an injury and did not return, and the Potlatch offense sputtered from there.

Kamiah 50, Prairie 14

Kamiah (3-1 Whitepine, 4-1 overall) raced out to a 30-0 halftime lead and moved into a tie for second place in the Whitepine League standings with the win over Prairie (2-2, 3-2). David Kludt threw for 214 yards and five touchdowns for the Kubs, and also rushed for 72 yards and a score. For good measure, Kludt also snared two interceptions on defense. Porter Whipple collected 12 tackles, three sacks and a fumble recovery on defense, while Tug Loughran finished with three receiving touchdowns. Gavin Schoening and Lawson Landmark each caught TDs, while Connor Weddle rushed for a score.

Lapwai 48, Troy 26

Lapwai (2-2 Whitepine, 3-2 overall) leaned on its defense to pick up a league win over Troy (1-3, 1-4). Ahlius Yearout led the way with 15 tackles on defense, while Pharrell Hayes came away with two interceptions and a fumble recovery. On offense, Yearout rushed for three scores, and caught two touchdown passes from Jereese McCormack. Julian Barrows also scored a rushing TD for the Wildcats. Troy’s Makhi Durrett threw a touchdown pass to Cole Hazeltine and Braddock Buchanan scored on a touchdown run.

Clearwater Valley 58, Genesee 6

The Rams (1-3 Whitepine, 1-4 overall) picked up their first win of the season against Genesee (0-5, 0-5). Bass Myers rushed for 286 yards and four touchdowns, while Carson Schilling added 158 yards and two TDs rushing, and also threw a touchdown pass to Landon Schlieper. Jake Fabbi capped the scoring with a 13-yard touchdown run.

Notus 54, Wilder 0

Notus (2-0 Western Idaho Conference, 4-1 overall) continued to show why they are the WIC’s toughest squad, taking down a Wilder (0-2, 0-5) team that has suffered a significant amount of injuries this year, but also just received reinforcements from the shuttered co-op of Greenleaf Friends, Gem State and Centennial Baptist.

Oakley 60, Lighthouse Christian 38

Oakley (4-0 Snake River Conference, 5-1 overall) trailed Lighthouse Christian (2-1, 4-1) at halftime, 32-24. Then, the Hornets outscored the Lions 36-6 in the second half to turn a close game into a laugher. Bry Severe broke out, scoring three rushing touchdowns and catching two touchdown passes from Kyler Robinson. Robinson also threw TDs to Isaac Cranney and Kooper Beck, and ran for a touchdown as well. Justice Schrader threw five touchdown passes for Lighthouse, including three to Case van Leeuwen.

Carey 8, Valley 6

Carey struck first in this Sawtooth Conference battle, when Preston Wood scored on a quarterback sneak. Wood then completed a pass in the flat for the two-point conversion, and the Panthers (1-2 Sawtooth, 1-4 overall) led 8-0 at halftime. No one knew at the time, but those would turn out to the be the winning points. Valley (2-2, 3-3) answered on a touchdown run from their quarterback, Josh Hardy, but their two-point conversion try was snuffed out. Hardy tried throwing a pass over the middle, but the attempt missed, leaving the score at 8-6.

Raft River 73, Glenns Ferry 42

Raft River (1-3 Sawtooth, 2-3 overall) finally broke through in league play. Kai Ward rushed for 291 yards and six touchdowns, while also chipping in with 12 tackles on defense. Talon Taylor and Devin Barnes each added 7 tackles defensively. Tanner Tracy recovered a fumble on defense, and tallied 131 yards receiving with a touchdown. Blake racy rushed for 81 yards and two scores, and also knocked through a point-after kick. Landon Stuart went 18-of-36 for 232 yards and three touchdowns for Glenns Ferry (0-3, 1-4).

Grace 66, Challis 0

The Grizzlies (1-0 High Desert Conference, 5-1 overall) won their league opener against an injury-depleted Challis team (0-1, 1-4).


CLASS 1AD2

Mullan/St. Regis 54, Lakeside 32

The Tigers (4-0 North Star League, 6-0 overall) took another step towards another league title with a statement win over Lakeside at the Marimn Health Coeur Center in Worley. Kofi Appiah rushed for 212 yards and five touchdowns, while John Pruitt added 88 yards and a pair of TDs. Conner Lulis threw for 152 yards and a touchdown to Pruitt. Lakeside (2-1, 3-3) was paced by Qwincy Hall’s 223 yards and two touchdowns rushing. Jarius SiJohn-Moffitt, Blaze Callahan and Liam Hendrickx also scored rushing TDs for the Knights.

Kendrick 50, Butte County 28

What was an entertaining non-conference matchup between Class 1AD2 Kendrick (4-0) and Class 1AD1 Butte County (5-1) turned gravely serious in the fourth quarter, when Butte County’s Dillon Waymire suffered a medical emergency on the Pirates’ sideline and had to transported to a local hospital. Waymire is recovering but remains hospitalized, and the game was called following the incident. As for the game itself, Middleton High School hosted the neutral site contest, and Kendrick picked up another win thanks to the strong play of Ty Koepp. Koepp threw for 213 yards and three touchdowns (one each to Sawyer Hewett, Nathan Tweit and Hunter Taylor). Koepp also rushed for a score, and Wyatt Fitzmorris found the end zone on the ground. Hewett also returned a kickoff 66 yards for a touchdown. For Butte County, Brody Westergard scored on a pair of touchdown runs, while Razor Duke ran for a score and threw a TD pass.

Council 28, Tri-Valley 14

In a hard-fought battle between Long Pin Conference rivals, Council (2-0 Long Pin, 3-3 overall) turned in a consistent effort over four quarters to earn the win over Tri-Valley (2-1, 3-2). The Lumberjacks played smashmouth football, as both Mason Roberts and Dahlton Bingham scored rushing touchdowns. Because of their commitment to running the ball, Council was also able to work in a good amount of play-action passes, which led to Owen Hatfield finding Decker McLinn twice for touchdowns through the air. Tri-Valley scored on touchdown runs by Gage Warren and Jace Waggoner.

Cascade 62, Salmon River 40

The Ramblers (1-2 Long Pin, 4-2 overall) earned their first conference win over Salmon River (0-4, 0-6). Tyler Thurston completed 13-of-19 passes for 249 yards and four touchdowns, while also scoring once on the ground. Cole Olson hauled in three passes for 89 yards and a pair of TDs, while also coming up with a sack on defense. Finley Wilkins returned a kickoff for a score, while Trevor Sayers led the Cascade defense with 16 tackles, and a fumble recovery.

Garden Valley 55, Idaho City 30

Class 1AD2 Garden Valley (4-1) rolled to a non-conference win at Class 1AD1 Idaho City (1-4).

Camas County 64, Hagerman 8

In a battle of Sawtooth Conference unbeatens, Camas County (2-0 Sawtooth, 4-1 overall) sent a message to the rest of the league. The Mushers struck first on a touchdown run by Troy Smith, but Hagerman (1-1, 4-2) returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown, tying the game at 8-8. From there, Camas County outscored the Pirates 56-0.

Dietrich 40, Castleford 20

Connor Perkins returned the opening kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown, and Dietrich (1-1 Sawtooth, 3-2 overall) was off to the races from there. Perkins rushed for 159 yards and three touchdowns, while passing for 80 yards and a score. Castleford (1-1, 2-3) cut the gap to 20-14 at halftime, but were outscored 20-6 in the second half of play.

Hansen 56, Shoshone 22

Shoshone (0-2 Sawtooth, 0-5 overall) scored first on a touchdown run from quarterback Humberto Cortez, but Hansen (1-1, 1-4) found their footing from there to secure their first win of the season.

North Gem 28, Mackay 22

In a key battle that will likely determine the Rocky Mountain Conference’s second and final playoff team, North Gem (1-0 Rocky Mountain, 4-2 overall) won the battle with Mackay (0-1, 3-2). This game was tied 14-14 at halftime. North Gem scored the next 14 points in the third and fourth quarters to take a 28-14 lead. Mackay attempted to rally late, but turned the ball over on downs and then fumbled on their final two possessions. Craig Yost rushed for 158 yards and a touchdown for the Cowboys, while Rusty Hatch had a nearly-identical 157 yards and two touchdowns. Lukky Welker also rushed for a TD. Mackay was paced by Taysen Bruley, who completed 9-of-15 passes for 115 yards and three touchdowns. Paylen Burley caught all three TDs and had seven receptions for 104 yards.

Watersprings 69, Clark County 14

In a non-conference affair, Watersprings (3-3) defeated Clark County (0-3). Due to low numbers this year, Clark County is playng a six-man schedule. Watersprings kindly accepted Clark County’s request, and also used only six players.

Rockland 72, Rimrock 21

Teague Matthews blew up for nine touchdowns as Class 1AD2 Rockland (4-2) took the non-conference win. Matthews was 16-of-20 passing for 364 yards and four touchdowns, and rushed for 155 yards and five touchdowns. Class 1AD1 Rimrock (1-5) was again led by junior Ronaldo Gomez. Gomez accounted for all of Rimrock’s points as he rushed for a touchdown, threw a touchdown pass, returned a kickoff for a score and booted a 30-yard field goal.
