6A State Quarterfinal | #1 Eagle 73, #8 Madison 51
The Eagle Mustangs, scoring 22 second-chance points, took care of business against the Madison Bobcats to tip off the 6A First Round at the Ford Idaho Center on Thursday.
After a tight start, Eagle led 14–12 at the end of the first quarter. Then came a 17–1 run by the Mustangs that blew the game open from that point on.
The IdahoSports.com Player of the Game, Berkley Jones, led the way for Eagle with 24 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 assists, shooting an impressive 10-of-14 from the field. Taya Nelson added 16 points and 6 rebounds, while Trinity Hoslinger contributed 15 points for the Mustangs.
For Madison, Brodie Spencer led the Bobcats with 15 points, while Mia Walsh added 13 points and 6 rebounds.
Eagle will take on #4 seeded Coeur d’Alene in Friday night’s state semifinal.
Madison heads to the 6A Consolation Bracket, where they will play the #5 seeded Borah Lions.
6A State Quarterfinal | #4 Coeur d’Alene 61, #5 Borah 59
In Game 2 of the 6A State Playoffs, the Coeur d’Alene Vikings were able to hold off a strong second-half surge by the Borah Lions to prevail 61–59.
After a tremendous start for the Vikings, they led 36–24 at the break, but the Lions weren’t done. They outscored Coeur d’Alene 35–25 in the second half, coming up just short in a fantastic finish.
Brookeslee Colvin was named the IdahoSports.com Player of the Game and had an all-time performance, scoring 35 points along with 10 rebounds to lead the charge for Coeur d’Alene. Karisa Wallis was also a key contributor with 16 points and 6 rebounds.
For the Lions, Kya Davis showed out with 23 points and 6 rebounds, and Evodie Evans tacked on 12 points despite the losing effort.
Coeur d’Alene will advance to Friday’s state semifinal to play the #1 seeded Eagle Mustangs.
Borah will play the #8 seed Madison Bobcats in the 6A Consolation Bracket on Friday.
6A State Quarterfinal | #3 Middleton 58, #6 Timberline 38
The Middleton Vikings forced 27 turnovers on their way to a 58–38 win over the Timberline Wolves in the third 6A State Quarterfinal matchup.
The Vikings were able to exploit the shorthanded Wolves, who were without Emmi Swillie (illness), but Timberline made it a lot harder for Middleton than the score may show. Middleton let Timberline hang around until late in the fourth quarter, when a late pull-away decided it for the Vikings.
The IdahoSports.com Player of the Game was Zoey Blackwell, who had 32 points and 6 steals to lead Middleton. Megan Stewart also added 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Vikings.
For Timberline, Fanci Sackett had 14 points and 6 rebounds, and Reese Vachek added 11 points and 7 rebounds.
Middleton will play #2 Rigby on Friday in the 6A State Semifinals.
Timberline will face #7 Boise in the 6A Consolation Bracket.
6A State Quarterfinal | #2 Rigby 54, #7 Boise 40
The Rigby Trojans forced 16 turnovers on their way to a 54–40 win against the Boise Brave in the final 6A State Quarterfinal game.
Rigby gave up the lead just once as they out-schemed the Brave, who couldn’t take advantage of turnovers and opportunities. The Trojans controlled the game throughout and secured the 54–40 victory.
The IdahoSports.com Player of the Game, Kinzley Larson, had 16 points and 7 rebounds to lead the way for Rigby. Lauren Burnside had 14 points and 8 rebounds, while Brinley Larsen (11 points) and Bailey Barber (10 points) were also key contributors.
For the Brave, Olivia Chatfield had 14 points and Nya Pellant-Latham added 10 points and 5 rebounds.
Rigby will face #3 Middleton in Friday’s 6A State Semifinals.
Boise heads to the 6A Consolation Bracket to play #6 Timberline on Friday.
5A State Quarterfinal | #1 Lakeland 72, #8 Columbia 28
The Lakeland Hawks handled the Columbia Wildcats in the first Quarterfinal of the 5A State Championships. The Hawks dominated the game in the paint, outscoring Columbia 32–6.
After building a 42–10 halftime lead, Lakeland cruised to a 72–28 blowout victory, advancing to the semifinals.
The IdahoSports.com Player of the Game Jaeli Hoffman had an outstanding performance, recording a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds to lead Lakeland. Presley Fagan led the Hawks in scoring with 21 points, while Mariana Bullington (11 points) and Karstyn Kiefer (10 points) also contributed heavily.
For the Wildcats, Bailey Robertson and Gabby Nabors both had solid showings with 10 points and 6 rebounds, respectively.
Lakeland will play #4 Pocatello in Friday’s 5A State Semifinals.
Columbia will take on #5 Jerome in the 5A Consolation Bracket on Friday.
5A State Quarterfinal | Pocatello 58, Jerome 46
The Pocatello Thunder outrebounded the Jerome Tigers 43–25 on their way to a 58–46 victory in the second matchup of the 5A State Playoffs.
This game was a tight affair from the start but was mostly controlled by the Thunder, who only gave up the lead once. The score at halftime was 25–22, but Pocatello pulled away in the second half to secure the win.
The Thunder were led by the IdahoSports.com Player of the Game, Madysen Torngren, who had 19 points and 10 rebounds while going 8-of-12 from the field. Abby Lusk was a huge contributor with a monster double-double of 17 points and 17 rebounds. Oakley Hirschi added 12 points for the Thunder.
For Jerome, Jensen Cook had 20 points and 5 rebounds, while Sawyer Garrard added 13 points.
The Thunder will return Friday to take on the #1 seeded Lakeland Hawks in the 5A State Semifinals.
The Jerome Tigers will play the #8 Columbia Wildcats in the 5A Consolation Bracket.
5A State Quarterfinal | #3 Blackfoot 40, #6 Hillcrest 31
The Blackfoot Broncos knocked down seven three-pointers in their 40–31 win against the Hillcrest Knights in the third 5A State Quarterfinal.
In a low-scoring affair, Blackfoot and Hillcrest traded blows in the first half, with the Broncos leading 16–15 at the break. The second half started with a bang for Blackfoot as they went on a 17–3 run to blow the game open. Hillcrest surged late, but it wasn’t enough as Blackfoot held on for the victory.
Blackfoot was led by the IdahoSports.com Player of the Game, Oakley Talbot, who posted 17 points and knocked down four three-pointers. Lexi Jackman added 11 points for the Broncos.
For the Knights, Kaia Kesler had 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists in the loss.
Blackfoot will take on #2 Sandpoint on Friday in the 5A State Semifinals.
Hillcrest will play the #7 seeded Bishop Kelly Knights in the 5A Consolation Bracket.
5A State Quarterfinal | #2 Sandpoint 51, #7 Bishop Kelly 28
The Sandpoint Bulldogs had 21 points off turnovers en route to their 51–28 takedown of the Bishop Kelly Knights in the final 5A State Quarterfinal.
Sandpoint got out to a fast start and never looked back. They led 33–13 at halftime and continued to control the game as Bishop Kelly had no answers for the Bulldogs.
Brecken Mire was named the IdahoSports.com Player of the Game, leading Sandpoint with 25 points and 8 rebounds. Livia Driggs also added 13 points for the Bulldogs.
For Bishop Kelly, Reagen Williams had 8 points and 6 rebounds.
Sandpoint will face #3 Blackfoot on Friday in the 5A State Semifinals.
Bishop Kelly will take on #6 Hillcrest in the 5A Consolation Bracket.
4A State Quarterfinal | #1 Sugar-Salem 60, #8 Kimberly 44
The Sugar-Salem Diggers grabbed 44 rebounds in their 60–44 win over the Kimberly Bulldogs in the first 4A State Quarterfinal of the day.
The Diggers went wire-to-wire and never gave up the lead. Kimberly was able to hang around early, but Sugar-Salem proved to be too much.
The IdahoSports.com Player of the Game was Tasha Larsen, who had 21 points and 3 steals for the Diggers. Andee Petterson was also a huge help with 11 points and 4 steals, and Kaylena Dayley added 14 points along with 12 rebounds.
For the Bulldogs, Taya Plew had 18 points and 5 rebounds, while Adyson Osborne notched 8 points and 7 rebounds.
Sugar-Salem will play #4 Marsh Valley on Friday in the 4A State Semifinals.
Kimberly will head to the 4A Consolation Bracket to face #5 Fruitland on Friday.
4A State Quarterfinal | #4 Marsh Valley 53, #5 Fruitland 50
In the second 4A State Quarterfinal, Marsh Valley scored 17 points off turnovers en route to a 53–50 nail-biter win.
In a game that had just two lead changes, this one was as tight as it gets, with Marsh Valley holding the slight edge for most of the contest. Fruitland charged late but came up just three points short as the buzzer sounded.
The IdahoSports.com Player of the Game, Zayli Merzlock, had 14 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 blocks while leading the Eagles to the win. Tayzlee Belnap was also a key contributor with 11 points.
For the Grizzlies, Kennedy Fitch had a great showing despite the defeat, posting a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Other contributors included Mollie Calkins (12 points) and Payson Bratcher (11 points).
Marsh Valley has a date with #1 Sugar-Salem on Friday in the 4A State Semifinals.
Fruitland will play #8 Kimberly in the 4A Consolation Bracket on Friday.
4A State Quarterfinal | #3 Timberlake 64, #6 Weiser 36
The Timberlake Tigers had 17 points off the bench in their 64–36 victory over the Weiser Wolverines in the third 4A State Quarterfinal matchup.
Timberlake came out firing early, going on a 31–2 run in the first half to take a 41–10 lead into halftime. The task proved much too tall for Weiser, as they fell 64–36.
Malia Miller, the IdahoSports.com Player of the Game, had 14 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals, leading the way for the White Tigers. She went down with an injury with 5:13 left in regulation and did not return. Other contributors included Macy Murphey (14 points) and Payton Young (12 points).
For the Wolverines, Porter Hart had 10 points and 12 rebounds, and Evie Dolton added 10 points and 9 rebounds.
Timberlake will face #2 Bear Lake on Friday in the 4A State Semifinals.
Weiser will head to the 4A Consolation Bracket to play #7 Filer on Friday.
4A State Quarterfinal | #2 Bear Lake 43, #7 Filer 29
The Bear Lake Bears grabbed 41 rebounds as they took down the Filer Wildcats 43–29 in the final 4A State Quarterfinal.
Bear Lake held a 16–9 advantage after one quarter, but Filer made it tough in the second quarter, cutting the deficit to 21–19 at halftime. The Bears proved to be too much in the second half, pulling away comfortably and never giving up the lead.
The IdahoSports.com Player of the Game was Halle Wells, who had 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Bears and was crucial to their success. Peyten Crockett also had 7 points and 5 rebounds for Bear Lake.
For Filer, Tanli LeMoyne had 15 points and 5 rebounds to lead the Wildcats.
Bear Lake will take on #3 Timberlake in the 4A State Semifinals on Friday.
Filer will play #6 Weiser in the 4A Consolation Bracket on Friday.
3A State Quarterfinal | #1 Malad 63, #8 Kellogg 36
The Malad Dragons had 43 rebounds in their 63–36 victory over the Kellogg Wildcats in the first 3A State Quarterfinal.
Malad proved too much in this contest, playing relentlessly from the tip and holding a 35–17 advantage at the half. They shut out Kellogg 13–0 in the third quarter and cruised to a dominant win.
The IdahoSports.com Player of the Game, Izzy Haycock, had 12 points to lead the Dragons. Brynlee Jones (11 points) and Mikell Keetch (10 points) were also key contributors.
For Kellogg, Jordyn Stutzke had 16 points and was the leading scorer in the game.
Malad will take on #5 Grangeville in the 3A State Semifinals on Friday.
Kellogg will face #4 Ririe in the 3A Consolation Bracket on Friday.
3A State Quarterfinal | #5 Grangeville 47, #4 Ririe 39
The Grangeville Bulldogs knocked down six three-pointers in their win over the Ririe Bulldogs, 47–39, in the second 3A State Quarterfinal.
Grangeville got out to a fast start, leading 14–6 at the end of the first quarter. Ririe stayed resilient all game but ultimately could not make up the deficit.
Caryss Barger, the IdahoSports.com Player of the Game, led the charge for Grangeville with 14 points and 2 steals. Autumn Long also added 19 points.
For Ririe, Eden Jensen had 9 points and 3 steals.
Grangeville will play #1 Malad in the 3A State Semifinals on Friday.
Ririe will play #8 Kellogg in the 3A Consolation Bracket on Friday.
3A State Quarterfinal | #3 Ambrose 71, #6 New Plymouth 66
The Ambrose Archers went 13-of-23 from deep on their way to a 71–66 victory over the New Plymouth Pilgrims in the third 3A State Quarterfinal.
New Plymouth started hot and put Ambrose on upset alert early, taking a 35–29 lead into halftime. The Pilgrims still led 56–47 heading into the fourth quarter, but Ambrose responded with a 14–3 run and outscored New Plymouth 24–10 in the final period to steal an instant classic.
The IdahoSports.com Player of the Game, Amelia Alexander, posted 36 points and six three-pointers for the Archers. Annelise Curran added 21 points and 6 rebounds.
For New Plymouth, Kadence Withers had 26 points and 7 rebounds, while Emery Frates added 14 points.
Ambrose will take on #2 Firth in the 3A State Semifinals on Friday.
New Plymouth will face #7 West Side in the 3A Consolation Bracket on Friday.
3A State Quarterfinal | #2 Firth 53, #7 West Side 37
The Firth Cougars had 22 points from the free-throw line in their 53–37 win over the West Side Pirates in the final 3A State Quarterfinal.
In a game featuring 10 lead changes, both teams played at a high level, with West Side holding a 24–21 lead at halftime. Firth responded in the third quarter to tie it at 31 heading into the fourth, then dominated the final quarter 22–6 to avoid the upset.
The IdahoSports.com Player of the Game, Baylie Mecham, had 17 points for the Cougars. Georgie Jolley added 14 points and 6 rebounds.
For West Side, Tess Ward had 10 points and Miley Cundick added 9 points.
Firth will play #3 Ambrose on Friday in the 3A State Semifinals.
West Side will face #6 New Plymouth in the 3A Consolation Bracket on Friday.
2A State Quarterfinal | #1 Butte County 71, #8 Vision Charter 38
Butte County kicked off the 2A first round in style, outscoring Vision Charter 35–0 in bench points en route to a dominant 71–38 victory.
From the first possession, the Pirates made sure the game would be no contest, jumping out to a staggering 33–1 run. Vision Charter was doomed from that point on.
The IdahoSports.com Player of the Game, Paige Williams, brought the spark with 11 points while going 3-for-4 from beyond the arc. Hazel Gammet and Brynn Andersen also contributed 12 points each for Butte County.
For Vision Charter, Raelynn Nickel delivered an electric performance despite the loss, scoring 27 points and knocking down six three-pointers on 8-of-16 shooting.
Butte County will meet #4 Prairie in the 2A State Semifinals on Friday.
Vision Charter drops to the 2A Consolation Bracket to face #5 Lakeside on Friday.
2A State Quarterfinal | #4 Prairie 53, #5 Lakeside 34
The Prairie Pirates had 54 rebounds in their 53–34 win over the Lakeside Knights in the second 2A State Quarterfinal.
Prairie never gave up the lead, and the outcome was never in doubt as Lakeside committed 16 costly turnovers.
Kylie Schumacher, the IdahoSports.com Player of the Game, had a legendary performance with 30 points and 9 rebounds. Sage Elven contributed 11 points, 9 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 3 steals.
For the Knights, Kyleigh Wolf and Tylah Lambert both scored 12 points.
Prairie will advance to face #1 Butte County in Friday’s 2A State Semifinal.
Lakeside will head to the 2A Consolation Bracket to play #8 Vision Charter.
2A State Quarterfinal | #3 Lapwai 88, #6 Victory Charter 16
The Lapwai Wildcats forced 51 turnovers in their dominant 88–16 win over the Victory Charter Vipers in the third 2A State Quarterfinal.
The game was effectively decided by halftime, with Lapwai leading 46–12. The Wildcats continued their dominance in the second half, outscoring the Vipers 42–4.
Skylin Picard was named the IdahoSports.com Player of the Game, finishing with 27 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists. Additional contributions came from Madden Bisbee (17 points), Taya Yearout (13 points), and Lois Oatman (11 points).
For the Vipers, Mikayla Zink led the scoring with 9 points.
Lapwai will face #2 Oakley in the 2A State Semifinals on Friday.
Victory Charter will play #7 Liberty Charter in the 2A Consolation Bracket.
2A State Quarterfinal | #2 Oakley 52, #7 Liberty Charter 12
The Oakley Hornets had 17 second-chance points in their blowout 52–12 victory over the Liberty Charter Patriots in the final 2A State Quarterfinal.
Oakley put the game away early with a 30–1 run and never relinquished the lead.
The IdahoSports.com Player of the Game went to Addy Maseda, who had 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Hornets. Taylin Beck also added 13 points and 7 rebounds.
For Liberty Charter, Sophie Criddle had 4 points and 6 rebounds.
Oakley will play #3 Lapwai in the 2A State Semifinals on Friday.
Liberty Charter will take on #6 Victory Charter in the 2A Consolation Bracket on Friday.
1A State Quarterfinal | #1 Salmon River 86, #8 Kootenai 20
The Salmon River Savages set the 1A State scoring record in their 86–20 blowout victory over the Kootenai Warriors.
This contest was all Salmon River, as they led for all 32 minutes and dominated offensively throughout. The previous 1A State scoring record was 73.
The IdahoSports.com Player of the Game was Rylee Waters, who had 25 points to lead the Savages. Poppy Harper (15 points, 8 rebounds) and Kennedy Harper (14 points) were also key contributors.
For Kootenai, Brooklyn Charles had 7 points and 13 rebounds.
Salmon River will play #4 Deary on Friday in the 1A State Semifinals.
Kootenai will play #5 Rockland in the 1A Consolation Bracket on Friday.
1A State Quarterfinal | #4 Deary 49, #5 Rockland 31
The Deary Mustangs scored 21 points off turnovers in their 49–31 win over the Rockland Bulldogs in the second 1A State Quarterfinal.
Deary gave up the lead just once in a competitive start, leading 25–15 at halftime. They outscored Rockland 27–16 in the second half to pull away for the win.
Kaylee Wood was named the IdahoSports.com Player of the Game, finishing with 15 points, 5 assists, 8 rebounds, and 6 steals. Allie Vincent added 14 points and 7 rebounds.
For Rockland, Mahanna Hatch had 8 points and 13 rebounds.
Deary will play #1 Salmon River on Friday in the 1A State Semifinals.
Rockland will face #8 Kootenai in the 1A Consolation Bracket.
1A State Quarterfinal | #6 Nezperce 47, #3 Carey 42
The Nezperce Nighthawks had 37 rebounds in their upset victory over the Carey Panthers, 47–42, in the third 1A State Quarterfinal.
Nezperce put Carey on upset alert from the jump, taking a 21–16 lead into halftime. They carried the momentum into the second half, entering the fourth quarter with a 35–26 advantage. Carey surged late but came up short as Nezperce secured the upset.
The IdahoSports.com Player of the Game, Helen Wilcox, had 13 points and 9 rebounds to lead the Nighthawks. Avery Lux added 12 points and 9 rebounds.
For Carey, Ali Simpson led the Panthers with 10 points.
Nezperce will play #2 Mackay in the 1A State Semifinals on Friday.
Carey will face #7 Dietrich in the 1A Consolation Bracket on Friday.
1A State Quarterfinal | #2 Mackay 59, #7 Dietrich 51
The Mackay Miners had 14 points off turnovers as they held off the Dietrich Blue Devils, 59–51, in the final 1A State Quarterfinal.
In a back-and-forth affair, Dietrich came out strong early, leading 29–27 at halftime. Mackay adjusted at the intermission and outscored the Blue Devils 32–22 in the second half to secure the win.
Jaida Rodriguez was named the IdahoSports.com Player of the Game, leading the Miners with 18 points and four three-pointers. Danika Seefried had 11 points and 17 rebounds, while Makelle Holt (13 points, 7 rebounds) and Alyssa Pehrson (13 points) also contributed.
For Dietrich, Ada Bingham had 14 points and 5 rebounds, and Amory Shaw added 12 points and 5 rebounds.
Mackay will take on #6 Nezperce in the 1A State Semifinals on Friday.
Dietrich will head to the 1A Consolation Bracket to face #3 Carey.
