6A State Quarterfinal | #1 Owyhee 69, #8 Rigby 54

Two-time defending state champion Owyhee began the 6A tournament with a win over No. 8 seeded Rigby.

The No. 1 seeded Storm scored 18 points off of turnovers and 23 points off the bench and outrebounded the Trojans 32-22. Owyhee shot 47.2 percent from the field while Rigby shot 51.2 percent.

A five-point lead after the first quarter stretched to 33-20 at halftime.

IdahoSports.com Player of the Game Jakobe Judd came off the bench to score 12 points for the Storm and also had three assists. Logan Haustveit added 15 points, four rebounds and three assists and Canaan Magness had 12 points, four rebounds and two steals for Owyhee (17-6).

Weston Walker had 18 points, four rebounds and three assists, Seth Bradley had 14 points and three rebounds and Jacob Love had 10 points and three rebounds for Rigby (10-15).


6A State Quarterfinal | #5 Highland 51, #4 Kuna 47 

No. 5 seeded Highland came back from 11 points down in the fourth quarter to defeat No. 4 seeded Kuna in the opening round of the 6A state tournament.

The game featured seven lead changes and two ties. Each team shot better than 52 percent from the field in the first half, with Kuna ending the game shooting 50 percent and Highland 46.3. The Rams outscored the Kavemen 22-7 in the fourth quarter. Highland ended the game with eight made 3-point shots.

IdahoSports.com Player of the Game Tracen Tripple had 12 points, two assists and was 4-of-8 on 3-pointers while Colton Stucki had 13 points and three rebounds for Highland (20-4), which will play No. 1 seeded Owyhee in Friday's semifinals.

Jackson Edwards had 16 points and Bauer Barrus had 14 points and three rebounds for Kuna (18-7), which will play No. 8 seeded Rigby in Friday's consolation bracket.


6A State Quarterfinal | #3 Lake City 48, #6 Timberline 37

No. 3 Lake City pulled away in the fourth quarter for an opening round win over No. 6 seeded Timberline.

Two lead changes and five ties occurred in the contest, including a tie late in the third quarter.

IdahoSports.com Player of the Game Jordan Carlson had 24 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals while Jackson Bowman added nine points and four rebounds for the Timberwolves (17-8).

Kole Hudson had 14 points, five rebounds and three steals and Collin Morris added 11 points, eight rebounds and two assists for Timberline (16-10).


6A State Quarterfinal | #2 Centennial 71, #7 Capital 53

No. 2 seeded Centennial shot 55.4 percent from the field and defeated No. 7 seeded Capital for the third time in as many meetings this season.

The Patriots led by as much as 22 points and scored 32 points in the paint for the evening. Capital made eight 3-pointers.

IdahoSports.com Player of the Game Gabe Eddins had 26 points, three assists and one steal, Henry Johnson had 15 points and five rebounds and Kerth Ngongo had 10 points, three rebounds and three steals for Centennial (21-3), which will play No. 3 seeded Lake City in Friday’s semifinals.

Quincey Clay had a game-high 24 points and four rebounds to lead Capital (15-12), which will play No. 6 seeded Timberline in Friday’s consolation bracket.


5A State Quarterfinal | #1 Lewiston 60, #8 Burley 55


No. 1 seeded Lewiston held off No. 8 Burley to move on to the 5A state semifinals.

The Bengals led by as much as 14 points before seeing their lead get trimmed. Burley, which shot 29 percent from the field in the first half, shot 51 percent in the second half.

IdahoSports.com Player of the Game Royce Fisher scored 34 points, had eight rebounds and three steals and went 11-of-15 from the free throw line for Lewiston (21-3).

Nash Gillette had 21 points, six rebounds, two assists and four steals while Ryker Page had 10 points, seven rebounds and two assists for Burley (14-12).


5A State Quarterfinal | #4 Columbia 69, #5 Vallivue 68 (OT)

No. 4 seeded Columbia outlasted No. 5 seeded Vallivue for a first round overtime win after 11 lead changes and eight ties.

The Wildcats led by no more than seven points throughout the game and scored 17 points off the bench in the win.

IdahoSports.com Player of the Game Max Keller made the game-winning 3-pointer as time expired to finish with a double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds, four assists and two steals. Easton Lott had 17 points and six rebounds, Lincoln Erickson had 15 points and Tavin Jones had 14 points, three rebounds and two assists for Columbia (18-7), which will play No. 1 seeded Lewiston in Friday’s semifinals.

Dominik Betancourt had a game-high 37 points (6-of-11 from 3-point range) and Xander Wilson had a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds for Vallivue (19-8), which will play No. 8 Burley in Friday’s consolation bracket.


5A State Quarterfinal | #3 Bishop Kelly 49, #6 Twin Falls 46


No. 3 Bishop Kelly outlasted No. 6 seeded Twin Falls in a tightly contested opening round game.

The Knights led by 12 points in the third quarter—the biggest lead of the game—before it shrunk to single-digits to enter the fourth quarter.

IdahoSports.com Player of the Game Andrew Johnson had seven points and five rebounds, Conor Goss had 15 points and three steals and Nick Hebert had eight points and six rebounds for Bishop Kelly (19-6).

Ty Hess had 24 points and Trey Billings had nine points and 18 rebounds for lead Twin Falls (17-7).


5A State Quarterfinal | #2 Preston 76, #7 Bonneville 64

No. 2 seeded and defending state champion Preston began the 5A state tournament with a win over No. 7 seeded Bonneville.

It was Preston’s second win over Bonneville this season. The largest lead was 33 points. Preston scored 36 points in the paint in the win, 24 points off turnovers and shot a blistering 58.8 percent from the field. The teams combined to make 21 3-pointers.

IdahoSports.com Player of the Game Wayd Bailey had 31 points, three rebounds, four assists and three steals and went 5-of-9 from 3-point range, Kasen Bryce had 19 points, three rebounds, two assists, and four steals and Parker Galloway had 15 points, three rebounds, five assists, two blocks and three steals for Preston (21-3), which will play No. 3 seeded Bishop Kelly in Friday’s semifinals.

Lucas Arave had 11 points and two assists, Kade Littlewood had nine points, four rebounds and two steals and Carter Bowen had nine points and four rebounds for Bonneville (11-14), which will play No. 6 seeded Twin Falls in Friday’s consolation bracket.


4A State Quarterfinal | #1 Teton 63, #8 Filer 36

Teton had four players finish with double-figure scoring in an opening-round win over Filer.

The Timberwolves shot 46.9 percent from the field, 38.1 percent from 3-point range and went 81.8 percent on foul shots in the win.

IdahoSports.com Player of the Game Oliver Lifton had 19 points, six rebounds and two assists, Luke Nelson had 14 points, eight rebounds, three assists and seven steals, Canon Kunz added 13 points and three assists and Bradley Brown had 12 points and three assists for Teton (21-5).

Bryker Darrington had eight points while Talyn Weaver added six points and five rebounds for Filer (10-15).


4A State Quarterfinal | #5 Bonners Ferry 62, #4 Gooding 60

No. 5 Bonners Ferry defeated No. 4 seeded Gooding for a first-round win after six lead changes and two ties.

The Badgers made nine 3-pointers in the win. The largest lead was 10 points.

IdahoSports.com Player of the Game Sulay Abubakari had 21 points and nine rebounds, Ty Schrock had 18 points, six rebounds and two assists and Peyton Hinthorn had 12 points, eight rebounds and five assists for Bonners Ferry (14-8), which will play No. 1 seeded Teton in Friday’s semifinals.

Bridger Pope had a game-high 28 points and five rebounds and Eli Esterbrook added 20 points and six rebounds for Gooding (14-7), which will play No. 8 seeded Filer in Friday’s consolation bracket.


4A State Quarterfinal | #3 Snake River 58, #6 Marsh Valley 56

No. 3 Snake River began the 4A state tournament by defeating No. 6 Marsh Valley for the fourth time in as many meetings this season between the 4A District 5 conference foes.

The contest was close throughout, with six lead changes, five ties and no lead greater than 10 points.

The Panthers scored 32 points in the paint in the win, had a 44-27 edge on rebounding and shot 42.3 percent from the field for the game. The Eagles shot 41.7 percent from 3-point range, sinking 10 3s.

IdahoSports.com Player of the Game Owen Jones came off the bench to score 15 points, including the game-winning shot, and also snagged 11 rebounds, and Bryden Mortensen had 12 points and three assists for Snake River (17-8).

Jaxson Smith had 15 points, five assists and two steals, Nash Guthrie and Tate Whitworth had 12 points each and Karter Davis had 11 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals for Marsh Valley (15-11).


4A State Quarterfinal | #2 Cole Valley Christian 60, #7 Homedale 37

No. 2 seeded Cole Valley shot 52.8 percent from the field en route to a 4A state tournament first-round win over No. 7 seeded Homedale.

The Chargers scored 32 points in the paint in the game, which had four lead changes and two ties. Cole Valley made 57.7 percent of its shots from the field in the first half, taking a 30-21 lead at halftime.

IdahoSports.com Player of the Game Jamin Hughes had 19 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals and Soren Fraas had 17 points and three rebounds for Cole Valley (20-4), which will play No. 3 seeded Snake River in Friday’s semifinals.

Lukas Hall had seven points and four rebounds for Homedale (14-9), which will play No. 6 seeded Marsh Valley in Friday’s consolation bracket.


3A State Quarterfinal | #1 St. Maries 64, #8 Parma 54

St. Maries began the 3A tournament victorious over Parma after seven lead changes and three ties.

St. Maries shot 48.9 percent from the field for the game, including 56.5 percent in the second half, and also scored 30 points in the paint.

IdahoSports.com Player of the Game JJ Yearout had 20 points, three rebounds, five assists and two steals, Isaiah Gustaffe had 12 points, Jack Barta had 11 points and three assists and Landon Riberich had 10 points and seven rebounds for the Lumberjacks (19-3).

Trevor Mann had 19 points, eight rebounds, two assists and three steals, Nathan Compas had 17 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals and Colton Davison added 10 points and six rebounds for Parma (14-11).


3A State Quarterfinal | #4 Ririe 52, #5 Firth 40

No. 4 seeded Ririe defeated No. 5 seeded Firth for the fourth time this season, this time in a 3A state tournament opening round game.

The Nuclear Conference rivals have met five times this season, including twice in the district tournament.

Ririe, which led by as much as 19 points, shot 44.7 percent from the field for the game and made nine 3-pointers.

IdahoSports.com Player of the Game Kody Landon had 15 points, eight rebounds and two assists and Cooper Brown added 18 points, two rebounds and two steals for the Bulldogs (16-9), who will play No. 1 seeded St. Maries in Friday’s semifinals.

Brycen Andersen had 14 points, four rebounds and Wyatt Killpack had a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds for Firth (15-10), which will play No. 8 seeded Parma in Friday’s consolation bracket.


3A State Quarterfinal | #6 New Plymouth 58, #3 Orofino 51

No. 6 seeded New Plymouth shot 50 percent from the field and defeated No. 3 seeded Orofino to start the 3A state tournament.

The Pilgrims shot 52.2 percent from the field in the first half and 47.6 percent in the second half. New Plymouth also also had 28 points in the paint and had a 32-22 rebounding advantage in the win. Orofino made 10 3-pointers in the game.

IdahoSports.com Player of the Game Ethan Meyer had 16 points and went 4-of-8 from 3-point range while Cohen Evans added 14 points and nine rebounds, Ashton Robinson had 12 points and seven rebounds and Josiah Gustin had 12 points, three rebounds and two assists for New Plymouth (19-7).

Jake Runia had 14 points and six rebounds, Hudson Schneider had 12 points, two assists and two steals and Nick Bonner had 11 points, four rebounds and three steals for Orofino (18-6).


3A State Quarterfinal | #2 Wendell 61, #7 Soda Springs 52

No. 2 seeded and defending state champion Wendell began the 3A state tournament with a win over No. 7 seeded Soda Springs.

The game had six lead changes and four ties. Both teams shot well, with Wendell making 45.1 percent from the field and Soda Springs making 44.4 percent for the game. The Trojans also shot 71.4 percent from the free throw line and the Cardinals shot 85.7 percent. However, Wendell scored 34 points in the paint to Soda Springs’ 14 and had a 36-21 advantage on rebounding.

IdahoSports.com Player of the Game Jonathan Swainston had 24 points, three rebounds, four assists and two steals and went 4-of-8 from 3-point range while Jordon Swainston had 13 points, four rebounds and two assists for Wendell (23-2), which will play No. 6 seeded New Plymouth in Friday’s semifinals.

Gavin Hansen had 17 points and three rebounds, Cooper Thompson had 12 points, four rebounds and four steals and Konner McWilliams had 10 points and three rebounds for Soda Springs (15-8), which will play No. 3 seeded Orofino in Friday’s consolation bracket.


2A State Quarterfinal | #1 Kendrick 72, #8 Grace 49

Maddox Kirkland and Ralli Roetcisoender combined to score 42 points in defending state champion Kendrick’s opening round win.

IdahoSports.com Player of the Game Roetcisoender had 20 points and seven rebounds while Kirkland added 22 points, six rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals. Hudson Kirkland added 13 points and Nathan Tweit had 11 points, five rebounds and three assists for the Tigers (21-3). 

Kendrick shot 49 percent from the field for the game, scored 21 points off turnovers and won the rebounding battle 37-25.

Bodee Smith had 16 points and Carter Mecham added 15 points for the Grizzlies (11-14).


2A State Quarterfinal | #4 North Star Charter 49, #5 Valley 44

No. 4 seeded North Star Charter outlasted No. 5 seeded Valley to win its 16th consecutive game.

The Huskies, making their first state tournament appearance in 12 years, led by no more than nine points and endured three lead changes and two ties. North Star Charter made seven 3-pointers in the win.

IdahoSports.com Player of the Game Logan Ellis had a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds, Tim Baros had 11 points and Paul Cougher had 10 points and five rebounds for North Star Charter (18-4), which will play No. 1 seeded Kendrick in Friday’s semifinals.

Reese Balls had a game-high 19 points and six rebounds while Devin Christensen had 10 points and eight rebounds for Valley (17-6), which will play No. 8 seeded Grace in Friday’s consolation bracket.


2A State Quarterfinal | #3 Prairie 53, #6 Murtaugh 36

No. 3 seeded Prairie built on a 22-9 halftime lead en route to an opening-round win over No. 6 seeded Murtaugh.

Murtaugh shot only 17.9 percent from the field in the game and was held to single digit scoring in each quarter except for the fourth. Prairie outrebounded Murtaugh 52-33 and led by as much as 23 points.

IdahoSports.com Player of the Game Patrick Schlader had a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds, two blocks and two steals, Riley Shears had 13 points, four rebounds, two assists and Nate Forsmann had a double-double of 11 points and 13 rebounds for Prairie (19-6).

Broxton Widmier had 14 points and McCoy Jensen had 10 points for Murtaugh (18-7).


2A State Quarterfinal | #2 Lakeside 60, #7 Rimrock 49

No. 2 seeded Lakeside jumped out to a 37-19 halftime lead en route to a first-round win over No. 7 seeded Rimrock in the 2A state tournament.

The Knights scored 30 points off turnovers and shot 40.4 percent from the field for the game. Rimrock made it a much closer game in the second half, outscoring Lakeside 30-23.

IdahoSports.com Player of the Game Tyson Charley had 18 points, nine rebounds, five assists, three steals and two blocks while Teagan Brown had 16 points, three rebounds, three assists and two blocks and Hallah Peone had 16 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals for Lakeside (20-2), which will play No. 3 seeded Prairie in Friday’s semifinals.

Rigo Farfan had 16 points, six rebounds and two steals for Rimrock (19-5).


1A State Quarterfinal | #1 Rockland 69, #8 Dietrich 33

Rockland extended its win streak to 19 games and remained undefeated versus 1A competition with an opening-round win over Dietrich.

The Bulldogs, who shot 54.2 percent from the field, won the rebounding battle 45-24 and scored 44 points in the paint in the win.

IdahoSports.com Player of the Game Xavier Parrish had 20 points, five rebounds and two assists, Woodrow Lowder had 18 points and nine rebounds and Isaac Held added 16 points, seven rebounds and three assists for Rockland (23-2).

Ben Wilson had 12 points, three rebounds and two steals and Chase Norman added 11 points for Dietrich (11-15).


1A State Quarterfinal | #5 Carey 43, #4 Timberline 35

No. seeded 5 Carey built a lead as large as 15 points and defeated No. seeded 4 Timberline to begin the 1A state tournament with a win.

The Panthers held the Spartans to single digit scoring in every quarter but the fourth.

IdahoSports.com Player of the Game Madden Perkes had 16 points and eight rebounds, Carter Olsen had 11 points and seven rebounds and Stockton Sears had 10 points, four rebounds and three assists for Carey (16-8), which will play No. 1 seeded Rockland in Friday’s semifinals.

Korbin Christopherson had a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds and Terrin Hueth had 10 points and five rebounds for Timberline (11-6), which will play No. 8 seeded Dietrich in Friday’s consolation bracket.


1A State Quarterfinal | #3 Garden Valley 43, #6 Greenleaf Friends 36

No. 3 Garden Valley defeated No. 6 Greenleaf Friends for the fourth time in as many meetings between the 1A District 3 opponents this season.

Garden Valley, which outrebounded Greenleaf Friends 52-30, trailed after the first quarter before taking a 22-18 lead at halftime.

IdahoSports.com Player of the Game Will Coburn had a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds while Madix Miller had a double-double of 13 points and 16 rebounds for the Wolverines (21-2).

Zane Fillmore had seven points, five rebounds and two steals for the Grizzlies (17-10).


1A State Quarterfinal | #2 Watersprings 58, #7 Coeur du Christ 38

No. 2 seeded Watersprings built a 30-14 lead at halftime en route to a 1A state tournament opening round win over No. 7 seeded Coeur du Christ.

The Warriors shot 46.3 percent from the field in the win, including 48.3 percent in the first half.

Watersprings also scored 36 points in the paint and won the rebounding battle 38-26.

IdahoSports.com Player of the Game Korban Nelson had 22 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals and Ryan Demkowicz added 19 points, nine rebounds, one block and two steals for Watersprings (23-3), which will play No. 3 seeded Garden Valley in Friday’s semifinals.

Kamden Manuel had nine points to lead Coeur du Christ (14-7), which will play No. 6 Greenleaf Friends in Friday’s consolation bracket.
