NAMPA, Idaho — The No. 2-seeded Lakeside Knights knocked off the top-seeded Kendrick Tigers 60-47 in the 2A State Championship on Saturday.

The Knights grabbed 28 rebounds en route to the victory, claiming their fourth state title in school history.

The game opened with a tight start as Kendrick held a slight advantage at 14-10 in the first quarter after opening with a 12-3 run.

Lakeside ignited in the second quarter with an 11-2 run to grab momentum and take a 30-26 lead into halftime. The Knights continued to pull away in the third quarter, extending the advantage to 47-39 heading into the final period. In the fourth quarter, Lakeside denied the Tigers’ comeback attempts, holding the lead throughout the second half and securing the 60-47 win.
Lakeside head coach James Twoteeth reflected on the championship and his team’s ability to capitalize in transition.

“That’s how we play,” Twoteeth said. “This is so exciting. We help ourselves in transition, and that shows how disciplined we are.”

Tyson Charley was named the IdahoSports.com Player of the Game after posting 25 points and seven rebounds to lead the Knights. Hallah Peone added 18 points and five rebounds for Lakeside.

“I knew it was my last game in a Lakeside jersey,” Charley said. “So I knew I just had to give it my all no matter the outcome, and I’m glad with the outcome we got.”

For Kendrick, Ralli Roetcisoender led the way with 14 points and seven rebounds despite the loss.

“It definitely reflects on the season we had,” Roetcisoender said. “I don’t care how many points I had today, we had a successful tournament run, and we just came up short.”
