Lake City Alum Nina Carlson Named T-Wolves' New Girls Basketball Coach
Lake City alum Nina Carlson was recently selected to replace David Pratt as the Timberwolves' varsity girls basketball coach.
The Coeur d'Alene Press stated that Pratt went 39-32 over three seasons as Lake City coach before retiring earlier this spring.
Carlson graduated from Lake City High in 2017, and played for the University of Idaho for four seasons. She has been an assistant girls coach at Coeur d'Alene High the past three years.
Carlson's parents, Chris and Carey, both coached at North Idaho College, and helped lead the Cardinal women to the NJCAA national title in 2011.
DISTRICT 2
Moscow Track And Field Sweeps Titles At Home Meet
The Moscow High track and field teams successfully defended their home venue at the Moscow Invitational.
The Lewiston Tribune reported that the Moscow girls dominated the competition with 219 points, while the boys finished with 183 points, just ahead of Lewiston (171.5 points).
Moscow's boys 4x100 meter relay team of Owen Lassen, Geroge Stott, Caleb Heywood and Izan Garcia set a new school record with a time of 43.44 seconds. Garcia, a foreign exchange student from Spain, was a late addition to the relay team after usual runner Connor Horne suffered an injury.
Mattea Nuhn was the standout athlete for the Bears girls, winning three events (100 hurdles, 300 hurdles and long jump).
DISTRICT 3
Cody Pickett Retires As Eagle High Boys' Basketball Coach
After 15 seasons of coaching both boys and girls basketball, Cody Pickett announced his retirement.
The Idaho Statesman noted that Pickett retired in order to spend more time with his family.
As the coach of the North Charter boys, Eagle girls, and Eagle boys, Pickett finished with a record of 258-128, with 12 state tournament appearances, six state tournament trophies, three state championship games, and a state title in 2019 with the Eagle girls.
Nate Hartman was been hired to replace Pickett. Hartman previously coached the Idaho Falls and Middleton boys.
DISTRICT 4
Kimberly Golf Sweeps Titles At Declo Invite
The Kimberly boys and girls golf teams continued their strong season by winning both team titles at the Declo Invitational.
According to KMVT, the Bulldog boys finished with a score of 296. Declo was second with 315. Meanwhile, the Kimberly girls finished at 317. Declo again took second at 416.
Korben Kowitz (68) and Ellyce Simmons (68) were the individual medalists.
DISTRICT 5
Blackfoot's Eva Grimm Sets New Stadium Record In Discus
Blackfoot's Eva Grimm uncorked a new career best in the discus at Highland's Gold Baton Relays and Invitational with a throw of 139 feet, 4 inches.
The Idaho State Journal said the throw is also a venue record at Highland's Iron Horse Stadium.

Salmon High Baseball Program Enjoying Breakthrough Season
When Salmon High School decided to implement a baseball program for the first time in 2019, the Savages went winless with an 0-10 record.
In 2026, though, Salmon is enjoying its best start in program history: 14-1 overall, including 6-0 in the Nuclear Conference.
East Idaho News noted that Salmon's previous high for wins in a season was seven.
