Welcome to "Quick Kicks", a weekly snapshot at what's happening across the boys and girls soccer landscape.  Enjoy!

BOYS SOCCER

- Mountain View has continued to build on their hot start to begin the season, tallying another 4 wins to start the season 7-0. The Mavs have outscored their opponents 17-2 this past week, as Centennial was the only team to find the net against Mountain View. 

- However, Boise is right there with the Mavs, as they have also outscored their opponents 17-2 to start the season 4-0. Senior midfielder CJ Zambukos has really allowed the offense to flow for the Braves, averaging 1.3 assists per game to begin the season.

- After the 6A High Country Conference saw its struggles to start the season, a couple of teams were able to get some much-needed wins. Canyon Ridge was able to get wins against Columbia and conference foe Rigby, and Thunder Ridge was able to get a big win against conference foe Highland.

- As for the 5A ranks, Jerome and Idaho Falls have both started their seasons undefeated. Idaho Falls picked up two wins against Shelley and Blackfoot, as Emmett Springer leads the way with an average of two goals per match this season. Jerome is coming off of three matches in four days, picking up wins against Moscow, Sandpoint and Capital as they reached 5-0.

- The top six in the 4A standings feature three undefeated teams from the Mountain Rivers Conference. South Fremont has only allowed two goals while Teton hasn't allowed any yet this season. Sugar-Salem, meanwhile, was able to play 6A Meridian to a draw to begin the season. The Diggers will host South Fremont on September 3 to begin conference play.


GIRLS SOCCER

- In the 6A Southern Idaho Conference, Timberline and Rocky Mountain are each off to hot starts. Timberline has only given up one goal in their 7-0 start, while Rocky Mountain has only dropped one game to Lake City. Mountain View has started their season 7-1, with their only loss coming to top-ranked Timberline.

- The 5A landscape has seen a lot of parity. The top six teams each have one loss or fewer, with Hillcrest, Vallivue, and Skyline each undefeated. Hillcrest and Skyline battled to a 2-2 draw to begin the week as they battled in the 5A High Country Conference. Meanwhile, ever since their opening draw with Wood River, Vallivue has outscored their opponents 14-2 to open their season 4-0-1.

- Class 4A features four undefeated teams to begin the season with Kimberly, Fruitland, Preston, and Sugar-Salem. Sugar-Salem has been able to knock off some upper division teams as they look to defend their state title. Kimberly has done the same with their competition, while only allowing one goal so far this season. 

- Fruitland hasn't been tested to the degree that Sugar-Salem and Kimberly have so far, but they will face Nampa September 3.

- Some teams have started conference play while others are about to start, so look out for these teams as they jostle for conference positioning.
