6A Classification
- Defending 6A champ Rigby improved to 4-0 following its 48-14 win over 5A Minico (2-2). The Trojans surged to leads of 17-0 after one quarter of play and 38-0 at halftime. Kue Kofe rushed for two touchdowns while Jaxon Nelson and Jack Sharp also added rushing scores in the win. Evan Freeman added a touchdown pass to Colby Hepworth to cap the first half scoring. Rigby played its backups in the second half of play.
- Madison is also 4-0 after another tense win, this time a 15-7 triumph over Mountain View (2-1). Brenner Stoddard drilled three more field goals (giving him five total on the season) with a long of 44 yards for the Bobcats.
- Highland (0-3) was not as fortunate as their east Idaho counterparts. A late lead slipped away, as the Rams fell to Capital, 29-25. Quarterback Quincey Clay finished 18-for-28 for 270 yards and three touchdowns. The dynamic junior also ran for 107 yards and the game-winning touchdown late for Capital (2-1).
- In the preseason, both Rocky Mountain and Eagle were selected to finish first in the Southern Idaho Conference’s Foothills and River Divisions, respectively. But the Grizzlies (2-1) showed on Friday night that Eagle (2-2) has work to do in the overall SIC landscape. Qhycyn Schellhous led Rocky Mountain in the 42-14 victory, completing 19-of-22 passes for 195 yards and two touchdowns. Kaelan Custer found the end zone twice as well and added 116 total yards for the Grizz. Bowen Blackburn ran for 38 yards and a pair of scores for Eagle.
- Meridian is 3-0 following a 28-21 win over Owyhee (1-2). Easton Nugaray went 8-of-13 for 137 yards and three touchdowns for the Warriors. Brock Schaffer caught two passes for 32 yards and two touchdowns. James DiStefano led the ground game with 20 carries for 116 yards and a score. Owyhee freshman quarterback Tyriq Reese was 5-of-10 for 100 yards, a touchdown and an interception.
5A Classification
- Columbia (2-1) exploded for 56 points in a 56-37 win over 4A Fruitland (2-1). Easton Zickgraf went 10-of-14 passing for 215 yards and five touchdowns. Santiago Carbajal ran for 145 yards and a touchdown on 30 carries. Tyson Winkelman (five catches, 103 yards, two touchdowns) and Easton Lott (four catches, 107 yards, three touchdowns) turned in fine receiving performances. Fruitland’s Titus Vidlak threw for 186 yards, a touchdown and an interception while running for 214 yards and four scores in the loss.
- Bishop Kelly (3-0 overall, 1-0 Southern Idaho Conference) also piled on the points in a 43-0 win over Centennial (0-3, 0-1). Jaxson Brady threw three touchdown passes in the victory and ran for a fourth. Defensively, Jared Thiel returned a fumble 49 yards for a touchdown.
- At the other end of the offensive spectrum, Nampa (2-1, 1-0 SIC) outlasted Vallivue (1-2, 0-1) 14-6 in a contest that saw all 20 points scored in the first half of play. Ethan Baker rushed 18 times for 112 yards and a touchdown for the Bulldogs. Rocky Reyna added 131 yards passing with one touchdown (to Lonnie Wells) and two interceptions. Sawyer Pool rushed for 70 yards and a score for the Falcons.
- In a wild High Country Conference shootout, the second quarter made all the difference as Skyline (3-0 overall, 3-0 HCC) defeated Pocatello (1-2, 0-2), 43-32. The Grizzlies outscored the Thunder 16-7 in the second period, and otherwise, the two sides played to an even draw. John Giannini threw for 212 yards, two touchdowns and an interception for Skyline. Caden Cruz added 99 yards and a pair of scores on the ground. Cruz also caught six passes for 107 yards and a touchdown. Pocatelllo’s Rhev Stucki threw for 251 yards and three touchdowns in the loss.
- Speaking of the HCC, preseason favorite Blackfoot (2-1) suffered its first loss of the season as the Broncos fell on the road to Twin Falls, 34-13. Conversely, the win stood as Twin Falls’ first this year (the Bruins are now 1-3). The Bruins were the preseason favorite in District 4’s Great Basin Conference.
- Lewiston is now 87-42-7 all-time against Clarkston (Washington) in the annual Battle of the Bridges game after the Bengals earned a 44-12 win. The latest victory was also the 11th in a row for Lewiston. Blaze Hepburn ran for a pair of touchdowns for Lewiston (3-1) and Ty Collins returned an interception 60 yards for a pick-six.
4A Classification
- In a rematch of last year’s 4A state championship game, reigning champ Homedale (4-0) showed it’s still the team to beat with a 48-6 win over Kimberly (1-3). Kreece Powell was 10-of-14 passing for 186 yards and a touchdown. Tyce Fisher carried the ball 17 times for 142 yards and a pair of TDs. and Alec Campos turned two handoffs into 43 yards and two touchdowns.
- Weiser coach Tom Harrison is now 2-0 against his old school, Snake River, as the Wolverines turned back the Panthers, 44-14. Weiser (3-1) senior Klete Cook was 7-of-14 passing for 129 yards and three touchdowns. Garrett Walker (two touchdowns) and Zayn Crossley (one touchdown) each rushed for 75 yards in the win. Snake River is now 0-4.
- Sugar-Salem (3-1) snapped Star Valley’s winning streak with a 27-14 win. The Wyoming powerhouse had won 15 games in a row prior to the loss. Diggers quarterback Frank Fillmore only threw five passes for 43 yards, but the dynamic athlete ran 12 times for 50 yards and three scores. Latrell Markle also returned a kickoff for a touchdown.
- Gooding (2-1) needed a pair of stops at the one-yard line to hold off American Falls (2-2), 28-27. Would it shock anyone if this was a rematch in the quarterfinal round of the 4A playoffs?
- Is Wood River (3-0) ready for a return to 5A football? The Wolverines, competing at the 4A level in an effort to rebuild their program, certainly look the part after a 43-19 win over former conference foe, 5A Jerome (0-3). Sawyer Morgan threw for 165 yards and three touchdowns (two to Wyatt Stone, one to Carlos Martinez). Morgan, Tristan Ballis and Charles Reid also scored one rushing touchdown apiece.
3A Classification
- Another week, another win for West Side (4-0). This time, the Pirates sprinted past Ririe (1-3), 34-20. Drake Sage ran the ball five times for 106 yards and two touchdowns. Sage also scored on a 31-yard pass from Bronco Moser and Mason Williams ran for an 80-yard touchdown as well.
- Another week, another win for Declo (4-0) too, as the Hornets shut out New Plymouth (1-3), 28-0. Traecyn Thaxton completed 10-of-15 passes for 175 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. Dacx Garrard caught five passes for 98 yards and two scores.
- Melba also stayed among the ranks of the unbeaten with a 77-0 shutout of Wendell (0-4). The Mustangs (3-0) rushed for 333 yards as a team. Rhett Franklin ran for 197 yards and four scores on just 11 carries.
- Buhl hung on in overtime to remain unbeaten at 3-0 with a 25-19 win over 4A Filer (0-3). Caelab Carpenter scored a rushing and receiving touchdown for the Indians, and Raidyn Pugsley found the end zone twice on the ground. Filer was led by sophomore quarterback Bryker Darrington. He threw two touchdown passes to freshman Keaston Richey.
- There’s some odd scores from week to week across the state, but the final between North Fremont (2-2) and 4A Teton (0-3) might take the cake. In something resembling a baseball score, the Huskies earned a 5-0 win. Sophomore Brody Johnston drilled a 31-yard field goal in the first quarter to give North Fremont a 3-0 lead. Then, in the third quarter, senior Dodge Wynn notched one of his two sacks on the night in Teton’s end zone for a safety and a 5-0 advantage.
2A Classification
- In one of Idaho’s best eight-man rivalries, Raft River (3-0 overall, 1-0 Snake River Conference) survived Oakley (2-1, 0-1) in a wild shootout, 56-52. The Trojans led by 30 points on two separate occasions in the third quarter (44-24 and 50-30) before Oakley scored 16 unanswered in the fourth quarter to make things interesting at 50-46. Ultimately Raft River held on for the narrow four-point win, and no one would be upset if these rivals met again in the playoffs somewhere.
- With starting quarterback Lawson Landmark unable to play the position due to injury, Kamiah (2-1) turned to wide receiver Todd Roberts to fill in. Roberts led a ground game that churned out 322 yards as the Kubs defeated 1A Cascade (2-2), 38-6. Roberts (15 carries, 94 yards, one touchdown), Landon Keen (11 carries, 98 yards, two touchdowns) and Gatlin Griffith (12 carries, 105 yards, one touchdown) all ran well for the Kubs in the win.
- Prairie (4-0) stayed unbeaten with a 34-20 win over 1A Council (1-2). Kade Quintal completed 5-of-12 passes for 103 yards with four touchdowns and one interception for the Pirates. Cooper Riener caught three of the four scores and finished with three grabs for 51 yards.
- Tri-Valley (1-2 overall, 1-0 Western Idaho Conference) picked a great time to get its first win of the year. The Titans held off Idaho City (1-2, 0-1), 20-16. The contest served as the WIC opener for both teams. Paxton Waggoner threw for 27 yards and a touchdown in the win. He also rushed for 110 yards.
1A Classification
- Kendrick (4-0) excelled once again, this time over 2A Notus (2-1) in a 60-6 romp. But coach Ty Koepp has done a nice job of getting new players involved week in and week out. This time, it was sophomore defensive back Miles Fortine’s time to shine. In his first career varsity start, Fortine returned two interceptions for touchdowns (one covering 65 yards, the other a 99-yarder).
- The Carey Panthers (3-0 overall, 1-0 Sawtooth Conference) rushed for 277 yards and eight touchdowns in a 64-8 win over Camas County (0-2, 0-1) in the conference opener for both teams. Senior Madden Perkes led the ground game with 83 yards and three scores.
- Coeur du Christ improved to 4-0 with a 58-22 triumph over Deary (1-3). Grant Clemens completed 20-of-28 passes for 312 yards and four touchdowns. Eli Zember caught two touchdowns for the Saints while Beckett Beyer and Anders Sundholm each caught one. Jon Denke also returned the opening kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown.
- Salmon River is also 4-0 with a 68-6 win over Lewis County (1-3). Blake Shepherd completed 11-of-19 passes for 236 yards and five touchdowns. He added 58 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Malachi Cable hauled in six passes for 172 yards and four touchdowns.
- Hansen (1-2 overall, 0-1 Sawtooth Conference) led Castleford (3-0, 1-0) at halftime, 14-0. But the Wolves scored 16 unanswered points, with the game-winning touchdown scored midway through the fourth quarter. Castleford has now exceeded its win total from a year ago after finishing 2-6 in 2025.
