This past week was all about…tournaments, tournaments, tournaments!
Madison won the ThunderBee Volleyball Classic, co-hosted by Thunder Ridge and Bonneville. Madison volleyball is still Madison volleyball, as they are putting up some big numbers and went undefeated this weekend.
They are led by their seniors:
Cloey Lamph is the offensive leader with 199 kills and 4.1 kills per set.
Jonnie Folsom, a senior outside hitter, has 170 kills. She was also a 2025 6A second-team All-State selection.
Layla Mortensen leads the team in several categories—blocks, hitting percentage and serving aces.
Tora Grover is the defensive leader at 5.6 digs per set.
And Cambry Crapo leads the team in assists with 274.
Madison is heading to play Rigby this week which will be a fun one to watch between two top teams in the state.
Skyview had a 7-match weekend in Las Vegas last week playing in the 64-team Durango Fall Classic, one of the country's major high-school volleyball tournaments. Their tournament results were:
Beat Redwood (CA), 2–0
Lost to Harvard-Westlake (CA), 2-0
Beat Desert Oasis (NV), 2–1
Beat Long Beach Poly (CA), 2–1
Beat Faith Lutheran (NV), 2–1
Lost to Woods Cross (UT), 2-0
Beat Branson (CA), 2–1
Skyview entered the tournament with several outstanding leaders. Rachel Bower led the team at 5.9 kills/set, while Jillian Deatherage was hitting .430 and led in blocks, and Elizabeth Bower led in digs.
Skyview went 5–2 against a very strong national field, including four straight wins at one point, and returned to Idaho with a 15–3 overall record. Skyview will face Timberline this week.
There was lots of great action all over the state this past week. Here are other noteworthy results from the ThunderBee Volleyball Classic:
Bear Lake defeated Blackfoot and Highland
Kimberly defeated Bear Lake, Pocatello, and Lake City
Twin Falls defeated Filer, Sugar-Salem, and Shelley
Snake River defeated Twin Falls
Additionally, in regular season play, Snake River and Kimberly had a five set thriller where Kimberly came out on top.
Rockland defeated West Side, Declo, and Logan (UT) to win West Side’s Walk the Plank Tournament.
And Mackay won the West Jefferson Invitational with wins over Marsh Valley and Leadore.
