New Head Coach Sol Brito takes over on the sideline in Castleford following a 2-17 mark last season.

The Wolves struggled on both ends of the floor last year, putting up more than 50 points on just six occasions, while allowing opponents under 60 just three times, including in both of the team victories.

If there is anything Brito has a surplus of in the new campaign it is experience, led by five players in the senior class who will be expected to see productivity increases this year while providing leadership for the younger players around. Point guard Jonathan Rich will patrol the offense, looking to setup scoring threats including George Beltran and Andy March.

With the guard line having some depth, the key will be team rebounding, especially on the defensive end, against a conference that has multiple teams with solid height advantages. Tony Hunsaker and Cody Adams, another pair of seniors, will be asked to stabilize the middle for Castleford.

Coach Brito is excited about the defensive ability to press the ball and create turnovers, as he says the team has some quick players on the squad this year. Expect Castleford to push the tempo on both ends, trying to force the opposition into mistakes to make things easier for the Wolves on the other end.

While the speed will be there, Brito hopes to also see improvement when the team needs to go into the half court and run a set offense.

Defensively, boxing out and communication were listed as areas needing improvement.

Brito has been the JV coach for three years and is joined on the coaching staff by Castleford graduate Kale Weekes.
