BASEBALL

Blayk Cockerum, 12, New Plymouth (Monday, April 27)

Cockerum homered three times as the Pilgrims defeated Vision Charter 16-5.  He finished 3-for-3 overall, with seven RBIs, four runs scored, and two walks.

Jay Marshall, 12, Potlatch (Tuesday, April 28)

Marshall slugged two home runs as part of a 3-for-4 showing in the Loggers' 18-0 dispatching of Lapwai.  Marshall tallied eight RBIs, three runs scored, and two stolen bases.

Joseph Hollist, 9, Garden Valley (Wednesday, April 29)

The bright lights of the postseason were no problem for this standout freshman.  In Garden Valley's wild 28-27 win over Idaho City in their 2A District 3-4 tournament opener, Hollist was 6-for-6 with three doubles and three singles.  He added six RBIs, four runs scored and a walk.

Jack Emery, 11, Melba (Thursday, April 30)

Melba claimed the 3A District 3 championship over New Plymouth 12-2, and Emery's stick was a major factor.  The junior went 2-for-2 with a home run, five RBIs, one run scored, one walk, and one sacrifice fly.

Porter Higley, 12, Buhl (Friday, May 1)

Higley helped lead the Indians to a second place finish at the 4A District 4 tournament with a narrow 5-4 win over Filer.  In a tight game, every run counts, and Higley had a hand in three of Buhl's: he went 3-for-3 with two home runs, a walk, three RBIs and two runs scored.

Tayson Farley, 11, South Fremont (Saturday, May 2)

Farley delivered a home run, five RBIs and three runs scored as South Fremont downed Teton 15-7 to win the 4A District 6 championship and secure their spot at the State Regional Tournament.  Farley went 4-for-5, stole a base, and earned the win on the pitcher's mound, for good measure.

SOFTBALL

Kimber Jones, 11, Horseshoe Bend (Monday, April 27)

Jones went 4-for-4 as Horseshoe Bend defeated Greenleaf friends 19-4.  Three of the four his were home runs, as Jones finished with ten RBIs and four runs scored.

Ava Thorson, 12, Lewiston (Tuesday, April 28)

Thorson went 3-for-4 as the Bengals defeated Lakeland 13-11.  All three hits were home runs, as Thorson totaled six RBIs and three runs scored.

Alyvia Rudd, 11, Bonneville (Wednesday, April 29)

Rudd slugged two home runs as part of a 3-for-4 day overall in Bonneville's 13-1 victory over Idaho Falls.  The junior finished with six RBIs and three runs scored.

Abby Kindelberger, 11, Idaho City (Thursday, April 30)

Kindelberger went 0-for-1 and you're probably thinking, "What's so special about that?"  Well, Kindelberger drew three walks, stole seven bases and scored two runs as the Wildcats defeated Wilder 20-3.  For good measure, one of her walks came with the bases loaded, which led to an RBI.

Maggie Stowell, 12, Rigby (Friday, May 1)

Stowell finished with two home runs, and went 3-for-4 overall, in Rigby' 9-8 win over Highland.  Stowell added five RBIs and two runs scored.

Sophia Kassotis, 10, Vallivue (Saturday, May 2)

Kassotis went 2-for-4 in Vallivue's 8-7 win over Caldwell in the opening round of the 5A District 3 tournament.  The sophomore made both hits count, though, as she finished with two home runs, three RBIs and two runs scored.
