A 2A State Tournament Bracket In Name Only
The 2A bracket is not a State Tournament bracket. It is, upon any review, an East Vs West Bracket with the ringer, the only undefeated team, Declo, positioned into the west bracket, staging the odds heavily in favor of an east side champion...again. A true State Tournament bracket would, by deliberate design, mix the east and west side conferences... starting in the quarter final round, at the latest. This 2A bracket does not do that. This bracket does not mix east and west in the semi-final round, save the #1, only undefeated team, Declo, who is placed, deliberately, into the west side bracket. North Fremont has one loss...to Melba. Nampa Christian beat Melba...both Melba and Nampa Christian are ranked lower than North Fremont. Don't want to hear about toughness of schedule and power rankings*. Declo, with a great season, was played to a closer score by Nampa Christian than any other 2A school except West Side, who lost a great 1-point game to Declo. North Fremont did not play Declo. West Side is rated lower than North Fremont. The bracket is staged so that east side teams will only play east side teams ... except for Declo, they play as the only east side team to be in the otherwise all west side bracket. No east side team, not one, will have to face the only undefeated team until the state championship game, should Declo so advance...including two east side teams that Declo beat. That makes the bracket staged for a likely east side only opportunity to win the title. **Nobody in the world, not even algos and AI, can possibly contend that toughness of schedule is anything but subjective manipulation of minimal, loosely relevant data…in prep football in Idaho. The only classification in 2A-5A football in Idaho that cannot "play down" is 2A. 2A plays up into 3A and again, in 3A as well ... nobody in the world, not even algos and AI, can possibly contend that toughness of schedule is anything but subjective manipulation of minimal, loosely relevant data…in prep football in Idaho. 2A rankings should be about 2A play, not 3A. 2A should play 3A, but only 2A results should be relevant to 2A tournament staging. The 2A State Tournament should, as well, mix east and west teams early and throughout the brackets to reflect the strengths of all conferences more accurately across the state. One team from the east playing in an otherwise all west bracket is not mixing east and west, it is not the basis of a "statewide" tournament, it is, by accident or design, staged to protect the east side title likelihood...it is A 2A State Tournament Bracket In Name Only.

CalPreps/Maxpreps Rankings 1) MaxPreps final regular season ranking will determine seeding and At-Large qualifiers. 2) The five conference champions are the only automatic qualifiers and will receive a first round bye. 3) The play-in round will consist of 6 At-Large selections and no conference is allowed more than 2 At-Large spots. 4) High Seed host, unless head to head applies. 5) If a head to head victory occured during the regular season, the team with the head to head advantage will host 6) The quarterfinal will be seeded by MaxPreps, however, conference champions will host, regardless of seeding, unless head to head applies. 7) In quarterfinal matchups between two conference champions, the higher seed hosts, unless head to head applies. 8) Semifinal matchups are hosted by high seed, unless head to head applies.

2a Bracket revised *my opinion
I think you could make a argument the bracket could be as follows 1. (Home)Declo vs Bear Lake (lowest remaining at large team) 2. (Home)North Fremont vs (Away)Aberdeen (second at large) 3. (Home)West Side vs (Away)Melba( 3rd at large) 4. (Home)Nampa Christian vs (Away)Grangeville But again this is only an opinion I was under the impression they were going to reseed the bracket for the last time to start the Quarterfinals.
