Get To Know Cierra Foster - Post Falls HS

Favorite high school memory, so far?
Last year at the Idaho State Wrestling Tournament taking 3rd as a freshman GIRL! Also, I was the first girl to be a 5A District Champion in Idaho.

What is your most memorable moment in a match?
Well, it was all of my matches at the USAW Girls National Folkstyle 2014. I had a "perfect tournament", meaning I pinned all of my opponents .

Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I am a sophomore at Post Falls High School with a 3.97 GPA. I participate as a varsity soccer player as well as a varsity wrestler for my school. In my wrestling career so far I have 3 national championships (2 USAW girls Folkstyle and 1 Fargo Cadet Girls Freestyle), 4 x National runner up (2 USAW Folkstyle,1 USAW Folkstyle Junior Division and 1 Fargo Junior Freestyle) I am only a Cadet so Junior's is the next age group up. My mom played soccer and my dad wrestled but they let me make my own choices on sports I wanted to try. My mom actually tried to talk me out of playing soccer and was not very sold on my wrestling either but has come around. My favorite movie is Guardians of the Galaxy and my favorite candy is Starburst. I have a cat named Bagheera who I have taught to sit when I give him treats out of my left hand. =)

When did you first know that you wanted to be a wrestler?
I started wrestling when I was 6. My brother wrestled and, since I was always at his practices and tournaments with my parents, it just made me want to try it. As I said before, my mom said "No.", then the coaches said, "Just let her practice" so she let me. Then it was "Just let her wrestle one tournament." Well... the rest is history.

Being a girl in what is traditionally a "guy'" sport like wrestling has to be tough. What keeps you motivated?
My goals that I have set for myself and achieving them. Such as going to college and wrestling in the Olympics. Also, I have been encouraged and coached by Clarissa Chun, bronze medalist, in the Olympics. She is amazingly positive and I look up to her. Everyday I thank God for the abilities He has given me.

What are your team's biggest strengths?
We have an intense work ethic and a strong team bond. We want to do the best we can for the team. There are four sets of siblings on our team too. We are all family as well as a team. Our team is very supportive of each other as well as not afraid to light a fire when we find it necessary.

What team or individual are you most excited to compete against every year, and why?
Maya Nelson whom I lost to at Fargo in the Junior Division. I am working hard to wrestle at her level. A measuring stick.

What is your favorite sport to watch? Participate in?
Table Tennis. Competitive eating =)

Who is your favorite teacher...and why?
Mrs. Frison...because she is awesome! She teaches English Legends and Mythology.

What kind of car gets you around town?
Mostly my dads Ford F350 or my moms VW Passat. Or my brother Steven's Honda Civic.

Favorite food?
Carbs of all kinds and unhealthy food!

What is your most embarrassing moment of all time?
At wrestling practice I smashed myself in the face with my knee and now I have a scar above my eye because of it.

It's the weekend. Sit at home or out on the town?
Sit at home with my family.

What is something most people do not know about you?
I am a complete nerd....love Greek mythology, the TV series SUPERNATURAL, love to cook and I talk to my cat. =)

What was the last song you listened to?
Hooked On A Feeling by Blue Swede

Any thoughts on where you want to go to college?
A few...Simon Fraser in Vancouver BC, Oklahoma City, and Wayland Baptist in Texas.

When you "grow up" what is your idea of the perfect job?
Physical Therapist

What is the best advice you have ever received and from who?
"Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS" was said to me by Coach Pete Reardon.

100 years from now, when your name is mentioned, how do you want to be remembered?
I would hope they say I was a nice person, hard worker, team player, and compassionate.

Now..to make sure you are paying attention...What is your favorite high school sports web site?
LOL hmmmmm let me think.....IDAHOSPORTS.COM!
