Get To Know Isabelle Hadden, a Junior at Boise High School. Issy is headed to the state tournament this week with her fellow lady Braves! They are going to need her to hit her per-game averages of 13 points, 6 rebounds and over 2 blocks in a very tough 5A bracket!

Get To Know Isabelle Hadden - Boise HS

Tell us a little bit about yourself.
My name is Isabelle Hadden, but most everyone calls me Issy. I was born in Boise and have lived here my entire life. I was raised by amazing parents, and have 3 younger siblings on my dad’s side. I started playing basketball when I was 5 years old, and it’s been a very important part of my life since then. I’m currently a junior at Boise High School, and in my third year playing for the Lady Braves varsity basketball team. I’ve been blessed with some of the best coaches, and even better teammates. We work hard everyday to makes ourselves better basketball players, but also better people.

What are your team's biggest strengths?
I think one of my team’s biggest strengths is our depth. We had a lot of returning players this year, with lots of experience on varsity. Our bench players can come in and contribute just as easily as out starters. When we play and work together I believe that we can compete with anyone.

What team are you most excited to compete against every year, and why?
I'm always most excited to play Mountain View and Centennial. Its always fun to play against great teams, and these two teams always give us a challenge. These games are always super competitive, and I think that’s what makes them so fun to watch and play in, no matter what the outcome is.

What is your favorite sport to watch? Participate in?
Watch: College Football and College Basketball Participate: Basketball

Favorite high school memory, so far?
My favorite high school memory so far was my schools Toga Dance my sophomore year. Everyone wears togas to the dance that is outside in our Quad. The energy and the music was great, and it was just a lot of fun.

Who is your favorite teacher...and why?
Mr. Williams was my AP World History teacher last year, and he is one of the best teachers I’ve ever had. I learned so much from him, and he made learning history fun. We did so many projects and hands on activities, and rarely did worksheets. Not only did he teach us history, but he taught us about life in general.

What kind of car gets you around town?
2012 Silver Ford Fusion

Favorite food?
Chicken Nuggets- If I had to eat one food for the rest of my life it would definitely be chicken nuggets form Chick Fil’A with Chick Fil’A sauce.

What is your most memorable moment in a game?
My most memorable moment in a game was last year during the district tournament; we beat Rocky, who was undefeated. It was one of the most energetic and exciting games I’ve ever played in. We had a great student section, and both teams played a great game, but luckily we pulled out the win.

It's the weekend. Sit at home or out on the town?
Probably sitting at home watching Netflix with friends!

What is something most people do not know about you?
I really enjoy painting. I took up the class my sophomore year, and really liked it. Most people just see me as an athlete, but I can also be a little artsy when I try.

What was the last song you listened to?
Sugar By: Maroon 5

Any thoughts on where you want to go to college?
Haven't decided yet! I know I most likely want to stay on the western side of the country, but I'm still undecided on which school!

When you "grow up" what is your idea of the perfect job?
I bounce back in forth between many career options. One day I want to be a physical therapist, the next I want to be a wedding planner. All I know is that I want to open up my own practice of something eventually, but I have no idea in what.

What is the best advice you have ever received and from who?
My mom always tells me to be myself and stay true to my values. I think this is really important for everyone because individuality is such a precious thing, and I don't think people realize how awesome they are. Knowing your values and staying true to them is key to building great character, and people will respect that.

100 years from now, when your name is mentioned, how do you want to be remembered?
I want to be remembered as someone who made a difference in the world. No matter what that difference is, even if it’s only in one person’s life, that will be enough for me.
