Personal Bio:
I am 18 years old. I'm the middle child of seven. I have three brothers and three sisters (4 older 2 younger). I love to go hunting and fishing and do anything outside. I like music and I play the guitar and sing in our high school's show choir. I will be leaving this summer to go on a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have the awesome opportunity to serve in New Zealand.

My favorite thing to do in my free time is spend time with my family. We love to do things outdoors and my dad and I have started team-roping together. It's lots of fun! I am an uncle to 7 nephews and 5 nieces with another niece on the way this summer. I like learning new things and I'm always up for a good challenge!

Favorite high school memory, so far?:
My favorite high school memory is winning the district football championship my sophomore year. We were losing 27-21 with a minute left, but then went on a 65-yard drive, and scored a touchdown and an extra point with no time remaining to win the district championship by one point. It was the greatest adrenaline rush I have ever had in my life!

What is something most people do not know about you? :
Most people probably don't know that I like to team-rope and brand calves. I love being around horses and roping is so much fun!

Any thoughts on where you want to go to college? Any offers yet?:
I'm unsure where I will attend college when I get home from my mission, but I am looking to play football or basketball for two years at a junior college, and then transfer to Utah State where I can get my Engineering degree. I have not received any offers to play collegiate sports.

When you "grow up" what is your idea of the perfect job?:
My idea of the perfect job is to own a ranch with lots of land where I can both farm and ranch cattle. It would also include extra land for outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing and snow machining. I would like to own this ranch and have someone run it for me. I would still help, but the stress level wouldn't be so high and I could teach my kids how to work hard on a ranch.

What is the best advice you have ever received and from who?:
The best advice I've ever received was from my dad and he taught me that the harder something is and the harder I am willing to work for it, the greater the reward. Nothing easy is ever worth celebrating. Hard things are just that, hard, but I know that they truly do make one stronger when they overcome whatever it may be. The reward is much better as well.

What advice can you give the kids coming up on how to get the most out of their high school careers?:
Advice I would give to the underclassmen would be to do as much as possible because the years go by so quick. Challenge yourself to take the harder classes or work harder at a sport because you will get more out of it. Get involved in music and student government. They helped me gain a different perspective. Lastly maintain the highest GPA possible. The grades are so important and they can bring so much money in scholarships and different things. It will take you farther in life if you put more effort into an education.

Your thoughts on being selected as one of the inaugural IdahoSports.com Student-Athletes of the Year?:
I feel very honored to be selected as one of the Student-Athletes of the Year. When I was little I always wanted to receive an award like this. I know there are many student-athletes throughout Idaho who are just as deserving of this award as me. I am grateful that I did well in school and sports and put myself in a position to receive this award. I thank IdahoSports.com and all that were behind this award. I feel very grateful and honored to be the recipient of it.

Nominated by Jeremy Burgess, AD at Salmon HS:
" Jedd Tibbitts epitomizes the perfect student-athlete and is very deserving of this award. His attitude is a great example to all — in the classroom, in competition, and in the community.

Jedd is a true leader in anything he participates in. One of Jedd’s best traits is his respect and kindness for others. He is always looking at the positive in every situation and is willing to help others if needed. In the past four years at Salmon High School, Jedd challenged himself by taking several upper level classes. With his commitment to sports and other non-school related activities, his work ethic has enabled him to maintain a 3.90 GPA. On the athletic fields, Jedd displays a fierce competitive spirit. With Jedd’s positive attitude and leadership, one could never count out the Salmon Savages. Jedd is one of those student-athletes that every coach would like to have. "
