Personal Bio:
I'm 18 years old and just finished my high schools days at Twin Falls High School. I love playing any sports, playing guitar and singing, traveling, being with friends and family, rodeoing, and most of all I love to laugh. I competed in three sports in high school: basketball, track, and golf. Playing golf and running track at the same time was challenging, but it taught me how to manage my time to say the least! I sat out most of my sophomore year of sports due to a brain injury, and now I wear a concussion helmet when I play basketball!

My favorite subject in school is math, but I also love to write. I want to be a physical therapist and work with athletes when I finish school. My favorite quote to live by is "Be who you are, and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those that matter don't mind." -Dr. Seuss

Favorite high school memory, so far?:
My favorite high school memory would have to be this years State Basketball Tournament during the last 5 seconds of our first round game against Nampa. We were down 40-42 with 5 seconds left and I banked in a 3-point buzzer beater. The feeling of my team surrounding me and trying to comprehend what had happened was truly indescribable. What is something most people do not know about you? :
Most people don’t know that my favorite hobby is dance!

Any thoughts on where you want to go to college? Any offers yet?:
I will be going to Dixie State University and possibly be playing golf.

When you "grow up" what is your idea of the perfect job?:
The perfect job for me would be a physical therapist. I love working with people and helping them improve their condition would be both humbling and rewarding.

What is the best advice you have ever received and from who?:
Best advice I have ever received would be from the wise man, Mike Federico, and that is: When you start getting stressed because your plate is too full, the best way to handle it is one bite at a time.

What advice can you give the kids coming up on how to get the most out of their high school careers?:
My advice to kids transitioning into high school is to always be yourself and Be involved in as many things as you have the opportunity to be in! When I reflect back on my high school career... I don't regret being busy most of the time because I made so many memories with a lot of special people, and I know I will carries those memories with me forever!

Your thoughts on being selected as one of the inaugural IdahoSports.com Student-Athletes of the Year?:
It is truly humbling to be selected as the IdahoSports.com 4A Girls Student-Athlete of the Year. I wouldn't be who I am today without the support of my family, the guidance from my coaches, and the best teammates an athlete could ask for. Playing for Twin Falls High School all four years of my high school career was an incredible experience.

I would like to thank IdahoSports.com for recognizing athletes across the state for their achievements, and also for allowing my out-of-state family to be a part of my high school sports career by providing webcasts and photos for all the competitions. Thank you to all who have given me love and support throughout my career.

Nominated by Mike Federico, AD at Twin Falls HS:
" Macy Urrutia is as complete of a student-athlete that I have worked with in over 27 years in education in teaching, coaching, and administration. It is a pleasure to recommend Macy Urrutia. I have known Macy for approximately 3 years as a student in my high school Leadership class and as a member our high school Student Council in which I am the advisor. I have observed Macy inside and outside of the classroom, and in this time, I have come to know an amazing student as well as a very unique and special person.

Macy has demonstrated her ability on the fields and courts throughout her career in high school. Macy is talented, passionate, a wonderful teammate, and the hardest working athlete we have on campus. As a member of our state runner-up basketball team, Macy was the inspirational leader on a special team. She also hit the game winner shot as time expired in the first round of the state tournament. In her senior season she is our number one Golfer on last year’s state runner-up team and has the highest mark in the high jump with the fastest time in the 100 meter dash for our track team.

Macy is a committed leader. She is the type of leader that can bring the best out of others. Her energy, optimism and commitment to “do what’s best” develop mutual respect with her classmates. With her guidance, our students have begun to take pride in their school. Macy has achieved what past student council members have only promised. She is the unquestionable top representative for Twin Falls High School when you think of service; Leadership; Student- Athlete.

This award of the IdahoSports.com Student-Athlete of the Year “Going Beyond the Game” is a special recognition for those who truly make a difference in their schools, sports, their teammates, and communities. Macy Urrutia has accomplished all of this and more. She is a perfect example of the best in sports, schools, and our society today. "
