Personal Bio:
I’m 18 years old and just wrapped up my senior year at Boise High School and will be attending the College of Idaho for the Fall 2014 semester. I hope to major in either engineering or computer science but while also pursuing my passion with graphic design and broadcast media. During the school year, I would keep myself busy as president of my high school’s French Club, member of National Honor Society, Key Club, and a board member of the Brave Empowerment Network and Character Education program.

I also planned a 3 on 3 basketball tournament focused on offering teenagers a drug and alcohol free Friday night and successfully implemented the Triple Threat Tournament for three years in a row. I was also a starter of the Boise High Girls’ Varsity Basketball team for all four years and co-captain my junior and senior year. I also played volleyball at the high school level.

When I’m not doing school work or playing sports, I love volunteering around the community, reading books, and baking cookies!

Favorite high school memory, so far?:
My favorite high school memory was beating undefeated Rocky Mountain in the District Semi-Finals and punching our ticket to state. Besides beating Rocky Mountain, Boise High received the Idaho Girls’ Basketball 5A State Academic Award two years in a row!

What is something most people do not know about you? :
Most people don’t know that my favorite hobby is dance!

Any thoughts on where you want to go to college? Any offers yet?:
I recently signed my letter of intent to play Women’s Basketball at the College of Idaho.

When you "grow up" what is your idea of the perfect job?:
My perfect job includes traveling all around the world and learning more about the exquisite cultures while enjoying some tasty delicacies.

What is the best advice you have ever received and from who?:
The best advice I’ve received comes from my high school coach Kim Brydges who consistently tells us “It’s all mental,” when referring to either tiredness or sickness. It’s all in the mind and we are the only ones who can control it.

What advice can you give the kids coming up on how to get the most out of their high school careers?:
My simple advice is to just stay true to yourself and your beliefs. If you can do that, then the opportunities are endless!

Your thoughts on being selected as one of the inaugural IdahoSports.com Student-Athletes of the Year?:
I am so honored to have been selected the Girls 5A IdahoSports.com Student-Athlete of the Year! First and foremost, I could not have gotten to where I am today without the support from the most amazing teachers, classmates, friends, coaches, and Mom. Second, I believe that everything happens for a reason and that those who make the best out of whatever will go far in life.

In a society where it’s easy to lose the meaning of a student-athlete and just primarily focus on one subject, I want to thank everyone at IdahoSports.com for this opportunity of acknowledging students who go the extra mile. Thank You!

Nominated by Kim Brydges, head girl's basketball coach at Boise HS:
"I have been associated with Natasha for over six years now as she has long been a member of my Girls Basketball Program. As I have watched her mature, I have been continually impressed with Natasha’s school involvement and her overall character.

Natasha possesses a strong work ethic that I have witnessed, first-hand, on the basketball court. In her freshman year, she quickly earned a starting position which she again held as a sophomore. Then, after her sophomore season, Natasha was voted one of our team captains and selected to begin working our various camps and clinic for younger players. Watching her work in these sessions left an immediate impression on me due to her commendable ability to lead by example and clearly deliver instructions to campers. This year, as a senior, Natasha again accepted the role of team captain and recently accepted a scholarship to continue her playing career at The College of Idaho next year.

As a student, Natasha is equally driven. She’s quickly learned the importance of time management and is the student who will always take advantage of an extra five minutes during the day to look over her history notes or flip through a study guide. At the same time, she’s both well-liked and well-respected by her peers, easily finding ways to balance the sometimes-difficult tasks of quality education and socialization. Her diligent study in the classroom has earned her an impressive 4.125 cumulative grade point average while juggling an assortment of accelerated and Advanced Placement courses. Even in a brief conversation with Natasha, one can understand she’s truly a highly motivated individual.

Natasha is a special individual who I hold in the highest regard. I feel she epitomizes the phrase “student-athlete”."
