Sorry Idaho Sports but really disappointed the state runner up only had honorable mention. Yes appreciate the 6th man but think you missed a few. Heard MULTIPLE people say Coy Sands was the best defensive player they have seen. Even held Sutton to I believe 5 points in our game? Yet Sutton makes 1st team and yet the kid that stopped him didn't even make it? Nothing against those that made it, they are all good but I think you overlooked the Jacks....

I hear what you are saying and I was expecting that and more. The problem is that St Maries is so balanced that it doesn't lend well for individual accolades. Sand's tournament stats (totals) were: 10pts, 6reb, 0 assists, 3 steals Sutton's tournament stats (totals) were: 35pts, 7reb, 10 assists, 9 steals

I understand from a statistical standpoint but its not always about the stats in my opinion.

In some cases, that cliche is true. When you are trying to narrow down an all-tournament team from around 120 athletes, stats have to play a part. There are only five players on each all-tournament team. Hustle, filling the lane, setting screens, etc are all part of the game but don't have statistical categories that can be tracked. That's why we have our broadcasters make these teams. We don't just go on stats alone. We see every game and every athlete, not just the ones from certain teams. Not many people can say that. Every kid at state played with a lot of heart. Sometimes I think that natural bias can make us forget that kids on the other teams play with heart and hustle too.

I actually did watch all of the games, some of the best basketball around so took the opportunity to do so. A lot of VERY good athletes that I would put right up there with the upper classes. I guess I was just a little more shocked that we were the only team in the Idaho center that did not have a player on the first and second team. I will take it as a compliment that our Jacks are so balanced that they didn't have that "star", but rather had 6-7 equally talented players. Maybe individually they didn't put up the numbers but together made some noise on their way to their second place trophy. I can tell you (yes this is biased) that we did have the most heart on that court and that is something I am very proud of. Great season to all and congrats to NF.
