The first-ever fall golf season came to a conclusion this past weekend with the state championship tournaments in Rexburg and Idaho Falls. Here is a recap of the top team performances for the 5A and 4A boys and girls teams, along with some of the top individual performers.

5A Boys

Eagle dominated the boys 5A state championship, finishing with a 22-stroke lead over second-place Madison (+19 to +41). Boise, Highland, and Coeur d’Alene finished tied for third-place at +44.

Individually, Madison’s Ashton McArthur came away with the best score, shooting a 133 (-11). McArthur’s impressive score was boosted by an unbelievable three eagles in the second round!

The remaining top-10 goes as follows: 4th place - Bobby Kincaid, Nampa 144 (E), tied for 5th place - Justin Anderson, Thunder Ridge and Seth Floyd, Highland 146 (+2), 7th place - Carson King, Lewiston 147 (+3), tied for 8th place - Trey Nip, Coeur d’Alene and Beau Sahr, Eagle 148 (+4), 10th place - Grant Potter, Coeur d’Alene 150 (+6).

5A Girls

Rocky Mountain (+63) ran away with the tournament this weekend. They finished with a commanding 46-stroke lead over second-place Mountain View (+109). Boise took third-place shooting a +119.

Boise’s Kelly Goulet finished second, shooting a 155 (+7) in a game that included 9 birdies and an eagle. Timberline’s Ella Arnzen finished in third shooting a 160 (+12).

The remaining top-10 goes as follows: 5th place - Olivia Lammey, Middleton 162 (+14), 6th place - Mollie Sielby, Lewiston 163 (+15), tied for 7th place - Megan Quinton, Madison 166 (+18), 9th place - Sammy Saroyan, Mountain View 168 (+20), 10th place - Lilly Miller, Mountain View 171 (+23).

Dallas Jackson finished tied for first shooting a 136 (-4), Niclas Bischoff-Jones finished in fifth with a 142 (+2), and William Comstock took sixth scoring 144 (+4). These great scores helped pave the way to BK’s 37-stroke advantage over Shelley and Twin Falls, who both finished +52.

Shelley and Twin Falls both had a golfer finish in the top three, with Nate Nelson of Shelley being tied for first, shooting a 136 (-4) and Twin Falls’ Derek Lekkerkerk finishing third scoring a 138 (-2).  Nelson earned the individual title via a tiebreaker.
