In the short history of the school, Lighthouse Christian has not made it to a state tournament appearance.

That might change this year with a strong senior guard line led by Second Team All-Conference returner Josh Fadness. Joining Fadness once again in the backcourt will be fellow seniors Ty Giardina, Bryce Kostelecky and Cody Holloway.

There is plenty of excitement building up about how this senior group will finish their high school careers on the hardwood when combined with the sophomore and junior classes.

"I’m probably the most excited to finish out with these seniors," said Head Coach Darren Van Hofwegen. "I have been with them for three years and they are a tremendous group. Josh, Bryce, and Ty have been on varsity [since they were] sophomores. When you add in a couple juniors and sophomores to the mix it only gets better. They are a fun group to coach and I look forward to seeing where we can go."

An athletic team, the Lions will look to turn that in a mismatch on most nights.

"We are very athletic and fast," said Van Hofwegen. "I like the way we can attack off the dribble. We should be a pretty good shooting team this year as well. We have three guys who are capable of scoring lots of points on any given night."

Defensively the unit looks strong as well.

"Connor Bosma and Ty Giardina are probably two of the players I consider great defensively. Ty can guard the ball really well and Connor has great length and strength to get rebounds underneath," stated Van Hofwegen. "Bryce Kostelecky is probably our most all-around player who can score, rebound, get steals and be able to find the open guy for assists."

While there is plenty of talent for the Lions to be successful this season, the key will be keeping players healthy.

"We have to stay healthy," said Van Hofwegen. "We don’t have a lot of kids, but the kids we do have are quality. So if we keep them healthy all season, or at least at districts, we could have a shot."
